SAFE OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR USE OF LOAD BINDERS

CARGO SECUREMENT A SECUREMENT SYSTEM IS A SECUREMENT METHOD THAT USES ONE OR A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS: VEHICLE STRUCTURE  SECURING DEVICES  BLOCKING AND BRACING EQUIPMENT 

SECURING DEVICES ANY DEVICE SPECIFICALLY MANUFACTURED TO ATTACH OR SECURE CARGO TO A VEHICLE OR TRAILER. SYNTHETIC WEBBING  CHAIN  WIRE ROPE  BINDER  D RING etc 

TIEDOWN A TIEDOWN IS A COMBINATION OF SECURING DEVICES THAT FORMS AN ASSEMBLY THAT:  ATTACHES CARGO TO, OR RESTRAINS CARGO ON A VEHICLE  IS ATTACHED TO ANCHOR POINTS

WORKING LOAD LIMIT(WLL) THE MAXIMUM LOAD THAT MAY BE APPLIED TO A COMPONENT OF A CARGO SECUREMENT SYSTEM DURING NORMAL SERVICE, USUALLY ASSIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE COMPONENT. NEVER TIGHTEN A TIEDOWN BEYOND ITS WLL. INCREASING THE NUMBER OF TIEDOWNS IS ONE OF THE WAYS TO KEEP WLL WITHIN RANGE.

RATCHET TYPE LOADER BINDER CAN BE USED IF SUFFICIENT LEVERAGE CANNOT BE OBTAINED BY LEVER TYPE. WHEN RELEASING LOAD BINDER MOVE HANDLE WITH CAUTION, IT MAY WHIP – KEEP BODY CLEAR. WHEN RELEASING HANDLE USE AN OPEN HAND UNDER THE HANDLE AND PUSH UPWARD.NEVER CLOSE YOUR HAND AROUND THE HANDLE.

NEVER USE A CHEATER PIPE OR HANDLE EXTENDER TO RELEASE HANDLE. USE A STEEL BAR AND PRY UNDER THE HANDLE AND STAY OUT OF THE PATH OF HANDLE AS IT MOVES UPWARD.
