Were Jesus and Muhammad sinless? (A detailed refutation to a Christian polemic) Omar Alhabeshi

Christian missionaries often claim that Jesus (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was sinless while Mohammed (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) committed sins so as to at least elevate the statue of Jesus (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) above that of Mohammed (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). Here I have separated this paper in to two sections to examine whether their claim is correct or not. The first part will deal with the claim against Mohammed (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) and the Islamic answer to the question whether prophets sin or not. And the second section will be dealing with the biblical Jesus. This section will thoroughly discuss whether the biblical Jesus was a sinner or not.

MOHAMMED Christian missionaries mention some quranic verses and Hadiths to prove the claim they made concerning Mohammed (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). One missionary said: “In Mecca, Muhammad receives this command about his sin. 40:55 then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! The promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy sin [dh-n-b] and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours. (Pickthall) The Arabic word dhanaba (verb form) come from the root dh-n-b and is defined below in this section. This verse is unambiguous. Muhammad has sin.” And added 47:19 so know (O Muhammad . . .) that . . . none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin, [dh-n-b] and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allah knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes). (Hilali and Khan) Note that Muhammad implores forgiveness from Allah not only for himself but for Muslim men and women. This means that average humans have dh-n-b, and so does Muhammad. And then quoted the verse 48:2 That Allah may forgive you your sins [dh-n-b] of the past and the future and complete His Favor on you, and guide you on the Straight Path . . . (Hilali and Khan)

To support his claim. Although this missionary noticed that the meaning of the word ‘dh-n-b’ could vary to at least “Crime; Fault; Offence; Sin; Any act having an evil result” (his quote: How is this word defined? Is it only a small weakness? Merely a minor fault? A Muslim scholar defines it thus: "Crime; Fault; Offence; Sin; Any act having an evil result" (Omar). A western scholar defines it as "a crime, fault, sin" (Penrice). Sources: * Abdul Mannan Omar, Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, Noor Foundation, 2004. Omar points out that he uses, among others, the world-class dictionary by Edward Lane, Arabic-English Lexicon. * John Penrice, A Dictionary and Glossary of the Koran, Dover, 1873, 2004.”) he questioned his readers saying, “how can anyone correctly say that dh-n-b (in the three above verses) means a minor "mistake" or "forgetfulness" or a small "fault”?” As can be understood from his quote this missionary tends to prove us that Mohammed’s (Peace and blessing be upon him) sins can never be different from the major sins committed by different unbelievers stated in the holy quran. First I want to appreciate the missionary for not denying that the word ‘dh-n-b’ can be a simple fault or offence. Then in the quran the word ‘dh-n-b’ is mostly used for great sins don’t necessarily mean that it must be referring to a great sin in Mohammed’s (Peace and blessing be upon him) case too. Lets look at this Hadith to clearly point out what kind of sin is Allah almighty talking about in the above verses of the holy quran: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah's Apostle had truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels. So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem). Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius's question said to them, "Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet?" Abu Sufyan replied, "I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group)." Heraclius said, "Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him." Abu Sufyan added, Heraclius told his

translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me." Abu Sufyan added, "By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet. The first question he asked me about him was: 'What is his family status amongst you?' I replied, 'He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.' Heraclius further asked, 'Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?' I replied, 'No.' He said, 'Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?' I replied, 'No.' Heraclius asked, 'Do the nobles or the poor follow him?' I replied, 'It is the poor who follow him.' He said, 'Are his followers increasing decreasing (day by day)?' I replied, 'They are increasing.' He then asked, 'Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?' I replied, 'No.' Heraclius said, 'Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim (to be a Prophet)?' I replied, 'No. ' Heraclius said, 'Does he break his promises?' I replied, 'No. We are at truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.' I could not find opportunity to say anything against him except that. Heraclius asked, 'Have you ever had a war with him?'

I replied, 'Yes.' Then he said, 'What was the outcome of the battles?' I replied, 'Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.' Heraclius said, 'What does he order you to do?' I said, 'He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin.' Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples. I questioned you whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous man's statement. Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom. I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative. So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about others could ever tell a lie about Allah. I, then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him. ……. Source Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 6 In this hadith it can easily be noted that no one had accused the prophet of lying or breaking a promise. How can a man who was NEVER accused of lying and was nick named by Al’amin (the trustworthy) be accused of committing major sins? Although the missionary tried to accuse Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) of committing major sins he failed to state the sins he was talking about. Amazing! The missionary failed to address his readers a single major sin committed by Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). Thus its clear enough that the sins that the three verses talking about are very minor sins which can be committed by forgetfulness as can be seen in the following verse of the holy quran where the believers are invoking Allah to not to punish them if they forget or fall into error. [002:286] “Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not

on us a burden like that which you did lay on those before us: our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people."” Unlike the Christian dogma in Islam every son of Adam (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is a sinner and the best of the sinners are those who repent. So every man including Mohammed and Jesus (May Allah’s peace and blessing be upon them) make mistakes. The missionary further said: This hadith says that Muhammad sought Allah’s forgiveness seventy times a day. This does not make the prophet seem secure in Allah. Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying." By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day." (Bukhari) Here what the missionary failed to realize is that basically the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was sent to teach mankind how to attain the greatest degree of holiness by obeying the commandment of Allah almighty and pleasing him. Here in these verses we can exactly see what was the main aim of the mission of the prophet: [062:002] “He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Quran, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error;” [003:164] “Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses (the Quran), and purifying them (from sins by their following him), and instructing them (in) the Book (the Quran) and AlHikmah (the wisdom and the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW (i.e. his legal ways, statements, acts of worship, etc.)), while before that they had been in manifest error.” So basically the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was sent for the purpose of teaching man kind the true way of worship as stated in the above verses. So why can’t he repent seventy times a day to be a good example of a humble servant? Lets have a look at this hadith:

“Ibn Marduwyah recorded that `Ata' said, "I, Ibn `Umar and `Ubayd bin `Umayr went to `A'ishah and entered her room, and there was a screen between us and her. She said, `O `Ubayd! What prevents you from visiting us' He said, `what the poet said, `Visit every once in a while, and you will be loved more.' Ibn `Umar said, `Tell us about the most unusual thing you witnessed from the Messenger of Allah.' She cried and said, `All his matters were amazing. On night, he came close to me until his skin touched my skin and said, `Let me worship my Lord.' I said, `By Allah I love your being close to me. I also love that you worship your Lord.' He used the water-skin and performed ablution, but did not use too much water. He then stood up in prayer and cried until his beard became wet. He prostrated and cried until he made the ground wet. He then laid down on his side and cried. When Bilal came to alert the Prophet for the Dawn prayer, he said, `O Messenger of Allah! What makes you cry, while Allah has forgiven you your previous and latter sins' He said, (O Bilal! What prevents me from crying, when this night, this Ayah was revealed to me,) (Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.) (Woe to he who recites it but does not contemplate it.).'' This is a very interesting hadith, which refutes the missionary’s claim! Look the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) and his companions know exactly that his previous and future sins were forgiven thus he was a pure man without any sin unforgiven. It’s amazing that the missionaries failed to understand why the Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) cried all the night. Hadn’t the missionaries been selective in picking verses and hadiths to attack Islam they would have known why the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) cried all the night and why was he struggling in worshipping his Lord Allah almighty although he was aware that all his sins were forgiven! The answer can easily be found in this verse: [033:021] “ Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.” Since the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was the best worshipper he too was the best example to man. So how can it be so strange to get the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) who is said to be an example to mankind repenting? The missionary ignorantly said In this hadith the prophet appears nervous as he takes refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, from the persecution or trial of the Dajjal (the Islamic version of the Antichrist), and from his own sins.

Narrated ‘Aisha: (The wife of the Prophet) Allah’s Apostle used to invoke Allah in the prayer saying . . . O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave and from the afflictions of Masih AdDajjal and from the afflictions of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the sins" . . . .’Aisha also narrated: "I heard Allah’s Apostle in his prayer seeking refuge with Allah from the afflictions of Ad-Dajjal." (Bukhari; see a short parallel hadith on Muhammad’s fear of punishment in the grave here, and see a slightly longer one below (no. 376) If this missionary was familiar with the Islamic sources he wouldn’t have made such shameful claim. How can the prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) fear from the trial of the Dajjal while he himself told his companions that he will contend with the Dajjal on their behalf (if the Dajjal rose in the presence of the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)) as stated in this hadith. An-Nawwas b. Sam'an reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) made a mention of the Dajjal one day in the morning. He sometimes described him to be insignificant and sometimes described (his turmoil) as very significant rand we felt) as if he were in the cluster of the date-palm trees. When we went to him (to the Holy Prophet) in the evening and he read (the signs of fear) in our faces, he said: What is the matter with you? We said: Allah's Messenger, you made a mention of the Dajjal in the morning (sometimes describing him) to be insignificant and sometimes very important, until we began to think as if he were present in some (near) part of the cluster of the datpalm trees. Thereupon he said: I harbour fear in regard to you in so many other things besides the Dajjal. If he comes forth while I am among on, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I am not amongst you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah would take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his evil). He (Dajjal) would be a young man with twisted, contracted hair, and a blind eye. I compare him to 'Abd-ul'Uzza b. Qatan. He who amongst you would survive to see him should recite over him the opening verses of Sura Kahf (xviii.). He would appear on the way between Syria and Iraq and would spread mischief right and left. O servant of Allah! adhere (to the path of Truth). We said: Allah's Messenger, how long would he stay on the earth? He said.. For forty days, one day like a year and one day like a month and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like your days. We said: Allah's Messenger, would one day's prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year? Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer). We said: Allah's Messenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth? Thereupon he said: Like cloud driven by the wind. He would come to the people and

invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their posturing animals would come to them with their humps very high and their udders full of milk and their flanks stretched. He would then come to another people and invite them. But they would reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be left t with them in the form of wealth… Source sahih muslim According to what is stated in this paper the exact position of the prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is clear. What he was doing was only to teach mankind how to worship their lord Allah. So he was asking his lord Allah to protect him from the punishment of grave and trial of the Dajjal not since he was worried about that for himself but to teach us how to seek refuge with Allah from every trial.

JESUS AND THE BIBLICAL JESUS Here in this section I will insha’Allah examine whether Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) made mistakes both according to Islamic and Christian sources. First according to the Islamic sources Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was not a sinless man at all. One authentic hadith of the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) reads as follows: "Every son of Adam is a sinner, and the best of sinners are those who repent constantly". - Ibn Majah, Tirmizi, Darimi This hadith never excludes any son of Adam even Jesus. So the Islamic position concerning Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is clear enough. As long as Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is a son of Adam he is a sinner. One other missionary provided us other evidence from the quran to prove that Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was sinless according to the quran. Lets analyze his claim: He said It is most significant to find that the Qur'an gives much support to this doctrine, for, while it records the prayers of other prophets for forgiveness and even commands Muhammad himself to pray for forgiveness of his sins, it expressly declares that Jesus Christ was sinless. We read that, when the angel appeared to Mary at the time of the Annunciation, he said:

"I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son". Surah 19.19 He further had to say: The word for "holy" in this verse is zakiyya, a word with the root meaning "purity". This form of the word principally means "blamelessness" and it is used in this context in the only other verse in the Qur'an where it appears. The Arabic word, which is often translated as “holy”, is “zakiyya”. First it’s important to look for the exact meaning of the word “zakiyya”. Different quran translators have translated it in different ways. Yusuf Ali: [019:019] He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son. Sher Ali: [019:019] The angel said, `I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may give thee glad tidings of a righteous son.' Shakir: [019:019] He said: I am only a messenger of your Lord: That I will give you a pure boy. Pickthall: [019:019] He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord that I may bestow on thee a faultless son. Sale: [019:019] He answered, verily I am the messenger of thy Lord, and am sent to give thee a holy son. Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan: [019:019] (The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son." Palmer:

[019:019] Said he, 'I am only a messenger of thy Lord to bestow on thee a pure boy.' Arberry: [019:019] If thou fearest God ... He said, 'I am but a messenger come from thy Lord, to give thee a boy most pure. Khalifa: [019:019] He said, "I am the messenger of your Lord, to grant you a pure son." Rodwell: [019:019] He said: "I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a holy son." As can be seen here the word ‘zakiyya’ can have many different meanings. Its meanings can vary according to the context where the word ‘zakiyya’ lies. Amazingly no body has ever translated that word in to ‘sinless’! Lets examine! if its said that Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is a sinless man according to the word ‘zakiyya’ then what can it be said about prophet Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) who is said to make a man ‘zaki’? Lets look at these different translations of the quran 62:02: Yusuf Ali: [062:002] It is He Who has sent amongst the Unlettered an apostle from among themselves, to rehearse to them His Signs, to sanctify them (wayuzakkeehim), and to instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom, - although they had been, before, in manifest error; Transliteration: [062:002] Huwa allathee baAAatha fee al-ommiyyeena rasoolan minhum yatloo AAalayhim ayatihi wayuzakkeehim wayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba waalhikmata wa-in kanoo min qablu lafee dalalin mubeenin Sher Ali: [062:002] HE it is Who has raised among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them HIS Signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and Wisdom though before that they were in manifest error;

Shakir: [062:002] He it is Who raised among the inhabitants of Mecca an Apostle from among themselves, who recites to them His communications and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom, although they were before certainly in clear error, Pickthall: [062:002] He it is Who hath sent among the unlettered ones a messenger of their own, to recite unto them His revelations and to make them grow, and to teach them the Scripture and wisdom, though heretofore they were indeed in error manifest, Sale: [062:002] It is He who hath raised up a midst the illiterate Arabians an Apostle from among themselves, to rehearse his signs unto them, and to purify them, and to teach them the scriptures and wisdom; whereas before they were certainly in a manifest error: Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan: [062:002] He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Quran, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error; Palmer: [062:002] He it is who sent unto the Gentiles a prophet amongst themselves to recite to them His signs and to purify them, and to teach them the Book and the wisdom, although they were before in obvious error. Arberry: [062:002] It is He who has raised up from among the common people a Messenger from among them, to recite His signs to them and to purify them, and to teach them the Book and the Wisdom, though before that they were in manifest error, Khalifa:

[062:002] He is the One who sent to the gentiles a messenger from among them, to recite to them His revelations, purify them, and teach them the scripture and wisdom. Before this, they had gone far astray. Rodwell: [062:002] It is He who hath sent to the pagan folk (Arabs) an Apostle from among themselves, to rehearse His signs to them, and to purify them, and to impart to them a knowledge of "the Book" and wisdom; for aforetime were they in manifest error. The Arabic word for the ones translated as “to purify them, to sanctify them, to make them grow” is “wayuzakkeehim”. The word “wayuzakkeehim” which is translated differently (like the word ‘zakiyya’ in Jesus’ (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) case) has a common root word with ‘zakiyya’. Lets reason, if Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is said to be a sinless man since the angel announced that he is a ‘zakiyya’ then what can be said about Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) who can make a man ‘zaki’? I don’t think a dirty water can cleanup a dirty cloth! Again if the word ‘zakiyya’ is meant ‘sinless’ according to Christian missionaries then it must be admitted too that Mohammed (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) must be a man who can make a man ‘zaki’ (sinless according to Christian missionaries interpretation). Further evidence can be found in quran [003:164], which reads as follows: “Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting unto them His Verses (the Quran), and purifying them (weyuzakkeheem)(from sins by their following him), and instructing them (in) the Book (the Quran) and AlHikmah (the wisdom and the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW (i.e. his legal ways, statements, acts of worship, etc.)), while before that they had been in manifest error.” Other missionary claimed that according to the hadith (Sahih al-Bukhari vol.4: 641 "…I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘There is none born among the off-spring of Adam, but Satan touches it. A child therefore, cries loudly at the time of birth because of the touch of Satan, except Mary and her child…") Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is a sinless man. I don’t know where in the hadith does it mention Jesus’ (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) alleged sinless ness? The hadith simply states that Jesus (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) and his mother weren’t touched by Satan at the time their mothers gave them birth. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they never sinned through out their life. Some missionaries argue “Show us where in the quran does it say ‘Jesus sinned’ or show us a single sin committed by Jesus (of course from the quran)?”

I say “If according to your faith Jesus is the only sinless man, so according to your logic show me where in the Quran and the BIBLE too is said that John the Baptist sinned or was a sinner?” Let’s move to the biblical Jesus (the Jesus according to the bible) and honestly judge whether he was a sinner or EVER committed a sin or not. Christians post the following three verses as a proof to the alleged sinless ness nature of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:22: "(Of Christ Jesus) who committed no sin neither was deceit found in His mouth." 1 John 3:5 "And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin." 2 Corinthians 5:21 "For He [God] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (NKJV) The problem with these verses is just neither of them is spoken on the authority of Jesus. The authority of these verses cannot be passed from Peter, John and Paul who are said to have written them. If we thoroughly search on the bible we get a single verse, which is said to had been spoken by Jesus himself, claiming that he was never guilty of sin. He (Jesus) says in John 8:45-46: “Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? If we carefully look at the context of these verse its quite obvious that Jesus was not speaking about every kind of sin. If we follow John 8 from verse 12 its clear that Jesus was basically speaking about a specific sin that’s a LIE. “12When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." 13The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid." 14Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17In your own Law it is written

that the testimony of two men is valid. 18I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me." 19Then they asked him, "Where is your father?" "You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also." 20He spoke these words while teaching in the temple area near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his time had not yet come. 21Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come." 22This made the Jews ask, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I go, you cannot come'?" 23But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,[a] you will indeed die in your sins." 25"Who are you?" they asked. "Just what I have been claiming all along," Jesus replied. 26"I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is reliable, and what I have heard from him I tell the world." 27They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. 28So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 29The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him." 30Even as he spoke, many put their faith in him. 31To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants[b] and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?" 34Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37I know you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you do what you have heard from your father.[c]"

39"Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would[d] do the things Abraham did. 40As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41You are doing the things your own father does." "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The only Father we have is God himself." 42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. Source Biblegateway In short Jesus was telling them to believe that what he claimed to be is true unless to provide him an evidence if he was guilty of lie before. These verses has nothing to do with every sin although some missionaries intentionally inserted the word ‘any’ before the word ‘sin’ in the verse john 8:46 so as to make their lord free of any sin while we never get it(the word ‘any’) in any of the major versions of the bible. According to the Christian doctrine of original sin if we all the sons of Adam have to share the original sin Jesus too must share that sin of Adam too. It’s amazing to get the Christian doctrine of the original sin putting EVERY son of Adam under the sin committed by Adam while leaving Jesus to be innocent from it although it’s claimed under the Christian doctrine that Jesus is a FULL MAN! Yet interestingly Paul indirectly put Jesus to be from among the cursed ones. Paul said Galatians 4:4 “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law” And he had to say in Galatians 3:10 “All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."”

As it’s well known from the Christian doctrine that the source of the curse which all sons of Adam must share unless being set free by Christ’s blood is Adam’s sin. So just by combining the above two verses we can easily understand that Jesus’ being under law makes him under a curse thus making him blamed for that original sin. Additionally 1 john 1:8 informs us that if we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. So if Jesus is said to be a full man how can he get escaped from at least the original sin (if every son of Adam is blamed for that sin)? Last but not least if there’s a request for providing a single sin committed by the biblical Jesus we can safely quote Mathew 19:28 which says: “Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” The biblical Jesus here failed to know that his disciple Judah is going to betray him. Lets look the context of the above verse: 23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." 27Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" 28Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. “ As can easily be understood from the above context Jesus informed the 12 disciples including Judah that they will be sitting in twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel. But yet the biblical Jesus changed his idea and said: Mathew 26: “20When evening came; Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me."

22They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?" 23Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born." 25Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?" Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."” The biblical Jesus first declared Judah to be one of the twelve who will sit on throne along with him to judge the twelve tribes of Israel and then he told that it would have been better if Judah weren’t born. Isn’t that a sin to talk about things which you don’t have knowledge? Hasn’t that biblical Jesus’ prophecy got failed? Can we then safely declare the biblical Jesus to be a sinless perfect man?

CONCLUSSION So far it’s proven from the two religion’s sources that no son of Adam is with out sin. And so were Mohammed and Jesus (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon them). As for those who still argue Jesus to be sinless to prove his divinity 1 John 3:9 which reads: “No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.” is enough. According to this verse every born again Christian is sinless and those whom the bible witnesses to have been filled with Holy Spirit since birth (Luke 1:15 says, “For he (John the Baptist) will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth”) too are sinless thus many gods will be available. So we can conclude that the bible it self refutes the idea that accuses all prophets of sinning while leaving Jesus to be a sinless man. …. And Allah almighty knows best!
