September 20, 2009 Happy Birthday, Kayla My daughter will be turning 9 years old and when I look back at all of my memories I can't help but wonder where all the time has gone. From changing her first diaper to seeing her start kindergarten, it seems like so much of it was a blur! And our son, who is 2 years younger, is growing up just as fast. Kayla's birthday landed on a weekday this year, so we celebrated her birthday during the weekend before. We had a small party for Kayla and two of her friends on Friday night, and then on Sunday night most of the relatives came to our house for a party for the family. See a full gallery of photos here All in all, it was a pretty typical few days of birthday parties for Kayla until she opened up the biggest gift: tickets to see Miley Cyrus in concert. Theresa and I had been keeping the tickets for Miley's concert in October since June when they first went on sale. My wife created a video designed to help break the news. The video starts out as a slideshow of pictures from when Kayla was two and three years old, then suddenly starts showing pictures of Miley Cyrus when she was younger. Then the pictures are broken up by a slide which says, "How did that get in there?" More pictures of Miley Cyrus follow, until another slide says "Wait..this has something to do with your present." Then, the next few slides explain that Kayla will be attending a Miley Cyrus concert in October. See video of Kayla learning about the Miley Cyrus concert on Facebook And, last of all, we all gathered around to sing happy birthday to Kayla and watch her blow out the candles on her birthday cake. It was noted that this would be her last "single digit" birthday. See video of Kayla blowing out her birthday candles on Facebook
