New Life on Main Street Niagara!

Business is booming on Main Street lately! About a dozen new businesses, offices and/or restaurants are open or making plans to open soon! The MSBPA welcomes Senator Antoine Thompson and his staff, The Living Wellness Center of Niagara, Hot Stuff Southern Café, Family and Children’s Service Inc., The Rapids Theater, McLeod’s Deli, Dream Home Realty, Coty Enterprises, the Niagara Snow Park, The Customs House/North Star Project, Magic Mist Limousine Service and Jo Jo’s Smokehouse to the Main Street community. If we have missed someone, please call and let us know! We also welcome new members to the association and will have the directories printed soon. Visit our updated website at “www.mainstreetniagara.com” and feel free to offer suggestions! The time to be a part of Main Street is now! Visit our office at 1824 Main to find out more. Beeton’s Bike Raffle Benefits Heart and Soul Beeton's Cyclery presented Sister Barbara Pfohl from Heart and Soul Food Pantry with a check for $768 from the proceeds from the 100th Anniversary Bike Raffle held during the Main Street Festival in June. The Niagara Beautification Commission will host their Annual Awards Luncheon on September 8th at the Crowne Plaza with a reception at 11:30 am. Congratulations to the award recipients! Call 285-3361 for reservations



Niagara Rises will host a ‘Fallin’ for the Falls’ Happy Hour event on Thursday, September 3rd at the Bakery Restaurant from 5—7 p.m.



The Ontario House Jazz Reunion will be held on Saturday, September 5th on Ontario Avenue, noon—6 pm.

Seventh Annual Carolyn Van Schaik Memorial a Success

The Fifteenth Annual Main Street Golf Tournament, now proudly named the "Carolyn Van Schaik Memorial" was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Hyde Park Golf Course. Winners of the Main Street Four Person Scramble for the men's division were: Dr. Bob Gedeon, Dr. Bob Gadawski, Mike Skowronski and Joe Randazzo. The Women's Division Winners were: Donna Tompkins, Hope Merletti, Pat Rose and Cassie Stein. The Open Division Winners were: Charlie Stein, Andrew Stein, Dena Armstrong and Chris Deluca. Winners of the Closest to Pin were Ed Bauraskas and Adele Berti. Winners of the Longest Drive were: Adele Berti and Joe Contento. Winners of the Closest to Line were Marie Esposito and Andy Touma. Mayor Paul Dyster proclaimed August 12th "Carolyn Van Schaik Day" at the Awards Ceremony at the Crowne Plaza on Third Street.
