Status Received Follow on request by Miles Kara via email on 8/4. Commission requested "Pilot names, and current locations." AF/XOHP has requested fm ANG. ANG did not locate pilot logs, but obtained additional information that XOH delivered to the Document Processing Facility 8/14. Other than pilot names, the documents were more like those in DoD Request 4, Item 6 (Forms 781, pilot interviews and events logs) NORAD does not believe such logs exist. NORAD has rechecked and provided JCS written justification. Delivered to document processing facility on 9/5. Delivered 9/12. Received further amplification from Miles Kara, Commission staff, on 8.4. "Commission learned at Andrews Tower that flight strips are held for 15 days unless there is need to hold them further for investigation. If someone is telling us that they were shredded, then we need a piece of paper explaining why flight strips for 9/11 were not held and why they were routinely destroyed even though the SOP allows that." NORAD has rechecked and finds the same information as stated by AF/XOHP in 4-9b. NEADS confirmed that no events had occurred or other instructions requested in accordance with SOP to retain flight strips. Procedure reviewed and found to have been followed in accordance with SOP. Per AF on 9/5: ANG bases are not required to unless a mishap or Hazardous Air Traffic Report (HATR) was filed. None of the aircraft that were scrambled on 11 Sep 01 experienced a mishap or encountered
