Science Project Proposal Topic Selection You can go about this one of two ways. You can either think of a general topic that interests you and hit the books looking for project ideas, or if you have an idea for a project you can look up what general topic it falls under. Either way—put the topic below.
Experimental Design In general—describe your project to me.
In this experiment, identify your dependent and independent variables.
What is your control and what is your experimental batch?
What aspects of your experiment are going to need to be held constant for your project to be scientifically valid

How are you going to measure your data?

_______ Yes _______ No, then start this sheet over.
What materials are you going to need and do you think you can get them?
Research If youʼve gotten this far, Iʼm going to assume that youʼve gotten your general research design approved by me. So, letʼs talk about your written research. Youʼre going to need to give us some background on the science behind your experiment. • Your research must include three different sources. • These sources need to be cited. It • should introduce all of the key terms and concepts in your topic. Even if the reader doesnʼt know anything about the topic, they should be able to get a general grasp through your research. • It should provide a basis for your hypothesis. Format—There are some non-negotiables: • It must be written in English—that includes spelling and grammar checks. • It must be typed in a normal font (e.g., Times New Roman, Helvetica, etc.) no bigger than 16 points. • There is no minimum or maximum in length, but I am looking for completeness. Letʼs assume that it ought to be around 5 paragraphs.
