Science Fair *Question: Does water type affect plant growth?

*Hypothesis:

*Material Needed: 15 seeds, 5 containers, a package of dirt, Purified, Distilled, Spring, Tap and Drinking water

*Procedure (Steps): 1) Pour 6oz. of potting mix (with fertilizer) in each cup 2) Pour a packet of seeds in each cup 3) Pour 1 more oz. of potting mix over the seeds 4) Pour 3oz. of water in the correct cups 5) (Observe plants daily)

*Control: Same # of seeds in each container Same amount of water Same amount of potting mix Flower type

*Variable: Water type

*Conclusion: Water type appeared to have no effect on seed germination, since all five plants germinated on Day 10. However, it does appear that distilled water may be best for germination since it germinated about three time as many seedlings as the other four water types.
