France was once a big colonial power that imposed itself on other nations or peoples who were too weak to defend their lands or their dignity and as a result many innocent humans suffered greatly. Too many, in fact. Think of the many Algerian freedom fighters who had their heads chopped off. The African natives who were mowed down by infantry guns. The Vietnamese independence fighters who died fighting to free their homeland. The Chinese civilians who died at the hands of French troops and who were helpless in the face of unbridled European onslaughts. The French were then a people who thought that the world was their oyster. Anything that they could loot was theirs for the taking. Anyone they could execute was theirs for killing. The French even wanted the US to drop the atomic weapon on the Vietnamese at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 but the then US President Eisenhower turned down their request. Even as late as the nineties, the French were militarily involved in certain parts of the world. When the US went into Afghanistan in 2001, France sent its troops also. France never hesistated to use military force against other weaker peoples in the past and today French foreign minister Kouchner yet still has the sauce to want to enter S.Lanka on the pretext of helping civilians. "We will try to launch an operation" he said. As if S.Lanka would accept a colonial power interfering in its internal affairs. France and other European nations have been unable to rid themselves of their superiority-complex mentality and often act as if other nations still required their attention or interference. if the French has any genuine desire to help, they should send in food, medicine and sanitary items to S.Lanka directly and IMMEDIATELY and DAILY and WITHOUT any hesitation and don't try to relive bygone colonial days. There's no need for any French presence in S.Lanka at all. Is a Frenchie someone who orginates from the holy hills ? Stop nurturing the holier-than-thou mentality. Send in the critical items NOW. Without waiting to be asked. No to the idea that former European colonialists can wade in and out when & how they liked, as if they came from a higher order. All nations are born equal. The same goes for humans. European nations should also pay attention to the civilians in Afghanistan too. Why not call for a ceasefire in Kabul. Why not call for a freeze in troop buildup. Why not call for a moratorium on aerial combat missions in Afghanistan. Why not call for a ban on the use of air-to-ground rockets. Civilians are civilians wherever they may be. There's no need to be vocal in one area and silence in another. What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gender. The Afghan civilians require protection from the so-called Coalition Forces who shoot without mercy any suspicious person. In S.Lanka, the civilians are not treated in the

same manner although admittedly there are still the many inevitable civilian casualties. France should think of the Afghans too. Launch the 'operation' in Kabul too. If the French ever dare to think of mounting a military intervention, the S.Lankan armed forces have every right to wipe out all such insolent forces. S.Lanka is not a near-defenceless ex-French African colony. The French cannot be trusted. Will France allow the Tigers to go to Paris and live there for the rest of their lives? It's very unlikely. So Kouchner should watch his tongue.
