Rock Art - Cave Drawing Project student name/pd: ______ Assignment: This is a test grade. You will produce a cave drawing with symbols and icons. It will include a basic sentence telling a person that might find this in the future who you are. You will also make your own alphabet. Write out the letters of our current English alphabet and then create a new symbol for each letter. You will present to the class. 1. Cave Drawing Paper (at least 8.5 x 11, preferably on brownish paper – paper bag is best) a. Include at least THREE symbols that describe who you are. __________________ [15 points] b. A sentence written with the new coded alphabet that you have invented. It is a note about the person in your life that has influenced you the most. DO NOT WRITE IN ENGLISH on the cave drawing. __________________ [15 points] 2. Essay on a separate sheet of paper: a. List the letters of the English Alphabet and then your code. (Example, A= , B= , C= ) _________________ [10 points] b. Write a paragraph explaining why you chose your three symbols. Explain each. Do not write, “I drew a basketball because I like basketball.” Be descriptive. Focus on why. _________________ [10 points] c. Write a paragraph explaining why you chose your coded message. _________________ [10 points] d. Write out the “College Essay” – Person of influence on you. The essay will explain the importance of the person you are focusing on in the coded sentence on your rock art. Write an essay in which you tell us about someone who has made an impact on your life and explain how and why this person is important to you. (Remember the goal of a college essay - proving you are a quality person and student to the school of your choice. Use the college essay rubrics I have given you in class.) You must have a thesis statement that is underlined (5 points). Due on Tue. Sept. 8th, 2009
