I have known her as a student in the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Education and supervised her during her Professional Semester I practicum where she demonstrated an innovative spirit; confidence with content and communication; and commitment to professional growth. Risa thoughtfully engaged with course material and shared her understandings respectfully with her classmates. Risa engaged in furthering her pedagogical understanding and skills by attending professional learning workshop outside of class expectations. Inspired by the workshop, she took risks to design and implement original learning materials to share with her class and Teacher Associate. As a student teacher, Risa worked diligently to create engaging lessons tightly aligned with learning objectives form the Alberta Program of Studies, attempting to find crosscurricular connections in her elementary placement. Risa was easily and willingly coached as she developed her classroom management skills and developed a comfort in her role as teacher. She had a clear vision of what she wanted for her growth; knew how to access the resources; and actively endeavored to grow in her profession. She has strong interpersonal skills and confidently participates in formal and informal professional conversation. Risa consistently and naturally demonstrates professionalism and respect in her interactions with colleagues and students. She is a caring teacher focused on the holistic needs of her students.
