Philip Randolph Elementary School, Chicago Public Schools, IL Year-Long Teaching Internship August 2018-May 2019 rd th • Co-planned and collaborated with mentor teachers and 3 /4 grade team to create quality lesson plans for students with diverse needs in all subject areas using Pearson Reading Street and GoMath. • Assumed all classroom responsibilities including lesson planning, classroom management, and data collection for 28 students for 6 weeks. • Reflected on and adapted own teaching techniques and school curriculum to meet the different learning styles and abilities of students based on results of assessments. • Communicated with cooperating teachers and families to help students receive additional support. • Practiced classroom management skills and routines to create a productive learning environment.
Gier Park Elementary School, Lansing MI Field Placement September 2017-May 2018 nd • Assisted cooperating teacher in a 2 grade classroom at an urban school. • Created and taught whole group lessons in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies that met the diverse needs of 28 students. • Supported the teacher and students to help reach academic goals through small group and one-on-one sessions. Donley Elementary School, East Lansing MI Field Placement August 2016- December 2016 • Used pre, post, and formative assessments to analyze a kindergarten student’s strengths and areas of need. • Provided tailored and interactive lessons for one-on-one tutoring to improve sight words and phonological awareness.
Other Experiences City of East Lansing Before and After Care, East Lansing, MI Site Leader September 2016- August 2018 • Led 5 staff and 50+ children in a before and after care program. • Communicated with parents regularly regarding weekly schedules and addressed issues that arose during the day. • Collaborated with school staff, children, and parents while arranging activities for children of different ages and abilities to create a mentally and physical engaging before and after school program. • Created a fun and supportive environment through positive relationships, for a large group of students to receive additional academic support and a safe place to play.
