In order to build this Wiki, I had to read the required text for EDU 276, and then use the internet and other sources to build additional background knowledge. I then was required to build an independent learning experience for my classmates, to extend their knowledge in my area of focus, “Root Words.” I was also expected to edit my page using the Wiki editing toolbar, as well as Microsoft Word. I was also expected to assess my peers learning experience using an online quiz/survey generator. Lastly, I had to compile my quiz results into a document (I chose Microsoft Excel) to turn in to my professor for her to record the results. BULLETED REFLECTION:
Pre-project Skills: My Wiki reflects many new skills that I learned in EDU 276. Prior to this class, I had experience using Microsoft Suite ® as well as search engines such as google.com. There were many new search tools that I was unaware of until I began this class and this project. Resources Used: As I worked on the Root Word Wiki, I used the following resources: • Search engines (namely clusty.com). • Several Tools in Microsoft® suite. • Delicious. • Scribd. • The example Wiki page on literacy. • Wiki editing skills. New Skills Practiced: The new skills that I used in producing my Wiki project are as follows: • Creating tables using Microsoft Excel. • Using spelling and grammar check. • Creating a spreadsheet that would show well when uploaded from pdfcoke.com. • Using screenshots. • Checking readability, using Word. • Collecting and tagging my resources. • Citing websites using APA format. • Expanding my search skills. Clusty has become my new favorite search engine. Next Steps: I have more to learn, including: • How to use more search engines, rather than just Google or Clusty. • How to check the credibility of a website. • Becoming more comfortable with word processing in Microsoft ®.
