BULLETED REFLECTION:

Pre- skills: The product reflects the knowledge I acquired from completing this DI quiz. By reading the articles provided by Dr. Gradel, I learned how important incorporating differentiation into the classroom is. I was unaware of all the positive effects DI has in the classroom, as well as the negative effects it has if it is never used throughout instruction. I also gained knowledge with how to strategize DI into class instruction. References used: As I completed the DI quiz, I used the following resources: • Microsoft Word 2007. • Background knowledge that I acquired from other courses I took this semester (EDU 250). • Knowledge gained from the previous class discussion. • Page layout tools that were provided on Microsoft Word 2007. • Online articles. Next Steps/ What I learned: I have learned a lot from completing this quiz, but I still have areas that I can improve my understanding on with Differentiation Instruction. • I can gain more knowledge when it comes to incorporating different strategies with DI. • I can read articles more thoroughly and understand what exactly I would need to do to be successful with using DI. • DI helps teaching in a classroom more affective and successful. • Providing Ideas of varying materials, meeting with students in small groups, providing scaffolding suited to student need are good strategies to use in the classroom. • All students learn at different levels, DI helps to improve or maintain a student’s level of academic abilities. • Grouping students with different levels of learning is a good strategy when using DI because they can help each other out. • Always have high expectations of students because they are capable of a lot more than they think. • Provide positive feedback, to have a student gain confidence with what they are doing. This way, they are engaged to keep trying and wanting to challenge themselves. • Provide a classroom where everyone gets the help and support they need to grow as much as possible. Make the classroom enjoyable for all students. • DI takes time to incorporate into the classroom. Teachers shouldn’t Try to do too much too fast. It might be time consuming, but step by step will benefit the teacher in the long run.
