Rationale I was inspired to write this story having looked back into some of my journals that spoke about some of my past experiences and seeing where I am now with respect to my personal development and where I was. Also, the loss of my grandfather’s memory spurred interest in writing this because, In the event that I lose my memory as well, I would like some of my story to be remembered. A movie called “The Notebook” was also part of my inspiration to write this. The audience for which this story was intended was for high school children and adults. This is because the level of understanding of such a situation would naturally be higher in such an age range. Therefore, the story would most likely be far more appreciated and more impacting than upon the lives of a younger age group The situation for this story is really that of a set of flashbacks about a boy’s experience of his parents having a divorce during his childhood and how it affected him. The purpose of this story was to show that though a divorce can prove to be a negative occurrence, positive elements can be withdrawn from such an experience.
