4. Read the short summary of our Thriller film ‘If You Run’ and in the space provided, write what you think of it. ‘If You Run’ is about a policewoman who has been put on the case of a murderer who kills children at train stations. All leads point to a man who has lost his family in a fire and who hangs around train stations all the time. While the suspect is in custody, another murder takes place and they realize that he isn’t the murderer. The murderer is actually the policewoman but she doesn’t know it herself. She had previously had a miscarriage and this triggered a form of schizophrenia where sometimes she is her normal self, but other times she becomes the murderer and kills children in revenge to what has happened to her. The story is seen through the eyes of the policewoman so the audience always sees it as a different person being the murderer. Towards the end, she tries to commit suicide although the audience sees it as the ‘murderer’ coming to attack her. Her friend stops her just in time, everything gets explained and the policewoman gets sent to a mental hospital. Reminds me of the Korean thriller “H” where the main protagonist, a detective, is the culprit and is conspicuously absent from the film whenever a murder is taking place. Seeing the film through the eyes of the murderer, whoever she thinks she is as the time, is a great twist and a great opportunity to show gratuitous violence and brutality
