GENERAL INFORMATION COMPETITION REGULATIONS - The competition will be conducted under current ISU and AIR competition regulations, where applicable and where appropriate. COMPETITOR REGISTRATION - Competitors must register before the first session. COMPETITOR IDENTIFICATION and EQUIPMENT • AIR helmet covers must be worn during races. Your state association will have issued them with your registration in 2009. • All international skaters will be lent a helmet cover. • Skaters must have, and use, all safety equipment: shin, knee and neck guards, gloves and ISU-compliant helmet.

2009 Queensland Short Track Speed Skating Championships SESSION TIMES Thursday, 10 December Saturday, 12 December

7:45 pm to 10:00 pm 7:30 am to 10:00 am

Note: Competition times may change depending on the number of skaters entered. Fun Skate Session: Saturday 12 December

6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

The fun skate session is not part of the formal competition, but all are welcome to skate as it will be the last Roos Club skate session for the year.

FEES COMPETITION FEES

Nipper, Midget & Sub-Junior: $100 Junior, Senior and Master: $120 These fees include the price of the BBQ lunch.

All prices are in Australian dollars ($AUD). Payment of the entry fee to QIRA must be made by November 23rd 2009. Entry forms, without payment, or without an existing arrangement with the secretary regarding payment, will not be accepted.

2009 Queensland Short Track Speed Skating Championships DIVISIONS & DISTANCES A COMPETITOR’S DIVISION IS BASED ON AGE AS AT 1st July 2009 Age Divisions for Ladies and Men: •

Nipper under 9 Must be under 9 by the 1st July 2009

111 m, 222 m, 333 m, 444 m



Midget 9 – 11 Must be under 12 by the 1st July 2009

125 m, 250 m, 400 m, 500 m



Sub-Junior 12 – 14 Must be under 15 by the 1st July 2009

250 m, 500 m, 800 m, 1000 m



Junior 15 – 16 Must be under 17 by the 1st July 2009

250 m, 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m



Senior 17 – 30 Must have reached 17 by the 1st July 2009

500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m, 3000 m



Master Over 30 Must have reached 30 by the 1st July 2009 Masters Divisions: 30 to 34 years 35 to 39 years 40 to 44 years 45 to 49 years 50 to 54 years 55 to 59 years And each 5-year division after 60 years

Competitors may skate up two divisions, however only one division may be entered. In case of a division not being filled, competitors will be automatically moved to the next highest viable division. Nipper, Midget, Sub-Junior and Junior individual distances will be run for both boys and girls if sufficient numbers are entered. If there are insufficient entries, then at the discretion of the Competition Steward both boys and girls will be combined. Individual events will be run for both Ladies and Men in the Senior division.

RELAYS No relays are scheduled. However, if there is sufficient time and enough interest from participants then relays will be organised. The Queensland Government is proud to provide funding for QIRA to get more Queenslanders active through sport and recreation. Page 4 of 8

2009 Queensland Short Track Speed Skating Championships MASTERS DIVISION The 3000 m event will consist of A, B etc. finals as per the Senior division. Depending on final entries for age groups with Masters division, competitors may be moved up or down, whichever is deemed necessary to create a viable division by the Organising Committee. Competitor points will be awarded for the division entered. Competitors will be notified of any changes prior to commencement of the championship. If there are insufficient entries in the Master Ladies division then competitors will be automatically transferred to the appropriate Master Men division. Masters may enter both Master and Senior divisions respectively. However, if the entrant then does not compete in a race (e.g. 3000 m) then that competitor will be withdrawn from the competition. Competitors are obliged to contest the race on its merits or risk disqualification.

DRUGS Australian Ice Racing Inc and its affiliates have adopted the AIR Anti-Doping Policy. Competitors at this competition may be subject to testing. It is the responsibility of all skaters to be familiar with the policy and ensure they achieve compliance. This is particularly so for athletes using anti-asthma medications. Athletes who are using such substances should check with the Drugs in Sport Hot Line 1 800 020 506. Please read the ASADA Fact Sheet in relation to use of a prohibited substance. The Fact Sheets are available on the AIR website or the ASADA website. All competitors must make themselves aware of the content of any ISU Communication on Drug testing use in short track speed skating. Copies will be available from state secretaries or at AIR www.australianiceracing.org or ISU www.isu.org or ASADA www.asada.gov.au.

prior to the event or will be available from the QIRA Secretary at the competition. No flashes allowed within the Ice Rink during competition.

CANTEEN The Roos Club will operate a canteen during the competition, with toasted sandwiches, noodles, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks, energy drinks and water for sale.
