75 = (50) N + (5) h + (20) k = Nhk = cohen = priest We will show it is not mere coincidence the 75th Tehillah (Psalm 75) reveals the working of hwhy in regard to the Levitical priesthood and, specifically, to the exaltation of Shemuel (Samuel), the priest. First: Psalm 75 falls within Book Three, the Leviticus Book of Tehillim: that Third Book of Tehillim ranges from Psalm 73 to Psalm 89. This means Psalm 75 is the third psalm of Book Three, the book pertaining to the priesthood. In addition to this, the reduced value of Nhk also equals three: ← ←

(misparim value) 75 = Nhk To obtain the reduced value of 3, add the digits which compose the number 75: 7 + 5 = 12. Since this is still not a one-digit value, we add the digits which compose the number 12: 1 + 2 = 3. Thus, the reduced value of Nhk equals 3. [The reduced value of a Hebrew word is obtained by summing the digits of its misparim (in this case, 75 is the misparim and the sum of its digits, 7 + 5 = 12). If the resulting number is still greater than a one-digit number, the digits are added yet again (in this case, 12 yields 1 + 2 = 3). Once we have obtained a one-digit value, we have also determined the reduced value of a word.] Second: Psalm 75 was written by Asaph: A priest, a Levite, and a contemporary2 of Shemuel (Samuel)—the priest of whom this psalm was written. Third: While the various truths of Psalm 75 may be applied to many situations, below is evidence which shows this body of text was a direct reference to the working of hwhy among the priesthood. Specifically, in this psalm, we find a retrospective look at the exaltation of Shemuel, as priest,3 and the removal of the house of Eli (including his rebellious sons, Chophni and Phinechas4) from the priesthood. These things, in turn, related to the eventual coming and exaltation of the Ultimate Priest, eswhy the Messiah, and to hwhy judging the world and establishing His Kingdom to the ends of the earth. Before providing detailed support of this third point, we begin by reading Psalm 75.

We will now compare the above psalm with the words of Channah (Hannah), Shemuel’s mother, as seen in her exultation (1Samuel 2:1-10), along with the events over the years which followed this time. These striking similarities will be set forth with minimal commentary. In light of the Messiah, we see these events in the life of her son only partially fulfilled the prophecies of Channah. Thus, we provide evidence her prophecies were for Shemuel and David as well as for the Ultimate David, the Messiah. After Shemuel began ministering before hwhy, the Word of hwhy was then revealed to him. Shemuel was exalted to be a priest in Yisrael while the house of Eli was put down for its open rebellion against the Word of hwhy.5 Tehillah 75 refers to these great events and, as the Scriptures always do, leaves instruction for each of us to take to heart in our personal lives.6 ♦ Tehillah/Psalm 75:1 ♦ Unto You, Elohim, do we give thanks: to You do we give thanks: for that Your Name is near Your wondrous works declare. And Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart rejoices in hwhy: my horn is exalted in hwhy: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is none qadosh as hwhy: for there is none beside You: Neither is there any rock like our Elohim.” 1Samuel 2:1-2 “Mosheh and Aharon were among His priests, and Shemuel was among those who call upon His Name; they called upon hwhy, and He answered them.” Psalm 99:6 5 6

Further, a similar thing occurred with the rebellion of King Sha’ul and the exaltation of Kind David. Romans 15:4, 1Corinthians 10:6,11

Shemuel was given the authority to rule over Yisrael through the priesthood, and he did judge uprightly in this position: “And I will raise up to Me a faithful priest that shall do according to that which is in My heart and in My mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before My anointed for ever.” 1Samuel 2:35 And the word of Shemuel came to all Yisrael … 1Samuel 4:1 3 And Shemuel spoke to all the house of Yisrael, saying, If you will return to hwhy with all your hearts, then put away the strange deities and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto hwhy, and serve Him only: and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 4 Then the children of Yisrael did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served hwhy alone. 5 And Shemuel said, Gather all Yisrael to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto hwhy. 6 And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before hwhy, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against hwhy. And Shemuel judged the children of Yisrael in Mizpeh. 7 And when the Philistines heard that the children of Yisrael were gathered together to Mizpeh, the rulers of the Philistines went up against Yisrael. Psalm 75:3 “For the pillars of the earth are of hwhy, and He has set the world upon them.” 1Samuel 2:8 8 Question and Comments: When will the earth and all of its inhabitants be dissolved by the fire of His jealousy?9 The Earth will be judged by the fire of His wrath at the time when all the pillars of the earth are shaken:10 1 Behold, hwhy makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad the inhabitants thereof. 2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for hwhy has spoken this word. 4 The earth mourns, fading away, the world languishes, fading away: the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left … 18 And it shall come to pass, that he who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that comes up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. 19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is completely dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The judgments of hwhy will come forth upon the inhabitants of the earth: the crust of our globe will be rent and molten lava will pour forth; the judgment/destruction of volcanoes will become commonplace; powerful earthquakes and tsunamis will strike fear in those who do not know hwhy.11 It is at this time that hwhy will further exalt the horn of His Anointed (Mashiach/Messiah):

hwhy will judge the ends of the earth, and He shall give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His Mashiach.” 1Samuel 2:10 eSwhy the Messiah will be sent forth from the heavens to conquer all the nations of the earth: 11 And I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and One sitting on it, called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness. 12 And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head many diadems, having a name written which no one knows but Himself; 13 and He is clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of Elohim. 14 And the armies which are in the heaven followed Him upon white horses, clad in white, pure, fine linen. 15 And out of His mouth goes a sharp two-edged sword, that with it he might smite the nations; and he shall shepherd them with an iron rod; and he treads the wine-press of the fury of the wrath of El Shaddai. 16 And He has upon His garment, and upon His thigh, a name written, King of kings, and Sovereign of sovereigns. Summary Tehillah 75 must number among the most awe-inspiring of any we have been given. The 75th Psalm is one which enjoins much humility in the face of a great and awesome Creator Who will someday prevail over all evil: We must seek to align ourselves with His Mashiach (Messiah) who will one day thunder from the heavens and judge the ends of the earth.16 He will avenge Himself on all His adversaries. Given the word “priest,” in Hebrew, has a number value of 75, we have shown it is not coincidence that the subject matter of Psalm 75 is one which relates to the priesthood. Further, the many themes seen in this song clearly reflect back on the exultation of the oncebarren Channah. Her words of immense joy are bursting with numerous prophecies— prophecies not only fulfilled in the life of her son, Shemuel – exalted to be a priest over Yisrael – but Channah’s prophecies were also Messianic in nature17 as they looked forward to the coming of king David and, most of all, to the coming of the Ultimate King: eSwhy the Messiah, the King of Yisrael and the High Priest forever after the order of Melchi-Tzedek.18 This Melchi-Tzedek Priest will “strike through kings in the day of His wrath”19 as He establishes the Kingdom of hwhy in all the Earth. t t s r q u p e o n m l k y j x z w h d g b a
