The problem is one of identifYing the oraft - whether it is a Malaysian oraft or an enemy oraft. Whilst identifyir.g of craft is quite simple during the day, 11; is extremely dif'1'icul t during 'the night. If a. large number of Malaysian craft are found in a vulnera.ble area, it makes it difficult for DB.VY and police boats to deteot Indonesian oraft. -',,,

3. All stationary gears within the proposed prohitJited areas ma.ybe operated at night but no movementof boats to and from the stationary ,gears should be allowed during this period. By day, stationary gears situatedseava.rd of M.T.ti. line maj be visited by operators who are in possession ,of a pass. , CONCLUSION

In putting up its reoommendations, the oo~ittee is of the opinion that areas olose to:Indonesian forward bases should be safeguarded. This, however, c.2e~ not mean that other areas in Johor are not vulnerable to Indonesian infil tra.tiOll. In the event of an imL:Iinen t threat materialising, ~hese other areas should be restrioted by ~anas of temporary ourfe~ as is the ourrent polioyp ad.
