Introduction This questionnaire was meant to assess the views of Tuskegee University students about spanking. I expected to find out if the respondents responses correlated with their views on spanking. My rationale behind this survey is because I believe that an individuals past has an impact on their future.

In these preceding charts the background information to the survey is shown. I had more female respondents than male and the majority of my respondents were ages 21-25. The next background question I asked was regarding location. My respondents are from all over the nation the most popular region being the south. All these questions are important because they give you a sense of what kind of individuals you are working with.

Do you think it is ok to spank children as a means of discipline?

This graph shows the results of the previous question. 48 out of 52 respondents believe that it is ok to spank your children as a means of discipline. These numbers are way over half meaning that almost everyone should have answers to all the questions that follow regarding their spankings and other questions about their future discipline routines for their children.

Did your parents spank you as a means of discipline?

This pie chart informs the audience that over half of the respondents that answered my survey were spanked as a means of discipline while growing up. Like the previous question this

graph’s numbers should also influentially impact the following responses to the questions to come.

What type of discipline did your parents most often use when you were growing up?

This bar graph explains the different types of disciplines that my respondent was subjected to. If their punishment was not listed their was an option to select the “other” answer. The graph shows that the most popular form of discipline was equally “taking away privileges” and “beating”. Once again individuals are showing the amount of them that were struck by hands or any other objects. Only one individual out of my respondents did not receive any type of discipline. The other selections where severely lower than the most popular forms of discipline.

This chart gives us more distributed results. Some of my respondents were in disagreement about how they were disciplined but most of them (over 50%) were agreeable with their punishments. In this question I gave my respondents an option of being on the fence. I believe that without the “somewhat” selection this question too would have been predominately agreed with their punishment.

Will you spank your children as a means of discipline?

In this pie chart the question about the future was revealed. Over 80% of my respondents decided that they will spank their children as they grow up. Without comparing any charts I have concluded that this will have an impact on other numerous variables.

Conclusion In conclusion my survey showed my how to effectively enter my data results and analyze them with better techniques. I learned that children who are physically disciplined as a child do feel as though it is right to discipline their children as well. Altogether not very many individuals felt as though spankings made them more aggressive towards peers.
