Hypothesis The bivariate relationships of my crosstabs are between the independent and dependent variables. The independent variables are the questions that are associated with what people think is proper protocol for child discipline. When people get together and decide to have children sometimes, their minds are not cohesive thus, causing unfortunate scenarios. One may have a fairly different notion about discipline than the other. Many of the questions posed in this survey were on the basis of "What do you think" and asked "How were you raised", in a particular situation. The dependent variables are the grounds in which people answer the questions, many people use discipline in various ways. Perhaps the most controversial, spanking can lead to a world of hurt for the child and parent. Spanking a child can cause that child unfortunate harms both psychological as well as physical. The control variable I choose was sex. I predicted that the effect the control variable would have on the independent and dependent variable would be up for grabs, discipline as a whole is a great way to teach children fundamentals of life but on the other hand can be quite disastrous. Rational I think that the control variable will have an effect on the independent and dependent variable because certain up bringing bring about certain behaviors. When one grows up in a hostile environment studies have shown that their can be seriously detrimental circumstances. The effect that discipline can play one an individual is not anything to take lightly. Males serve as the hierarchy of power in the home, seeing as though men are generally more physically aggressive than women, certain circumstances
can be easily elevated to a level not necessarily necessary. I think that the sex of the person will have an affect on the type of discipline distribute to the child. Women are far more diverse and can easily pick different methods as a means of discipline than men ever will. Discussion The bivariate table showed that people growing up as a consensus were disciplined mainly by spanking. The spankings ranged from petty to quite brutal. There were very few individuals that were not disciplined at all. It is evident that discipline is quite universal, however, it is safe to say that in our society, spanking a child is frowned upon. People must be aware that their decisions of today are their reflections of tomorrow, beating their children could make that child feel uncomfortable and alienated, as apposed to loved and cherished. The multivariate tables show the same thing as the
bivariate, however the race factor does not play a role in the diverse nature of the outcome, seeing as though all of the respondents were of the same decent.
