THE SCHOOL Hamilton High School, established in 1998 is a four-year (grades 9-12) comprehensive high school located in the southeastern part of the City of Chandler, Arizona. The school follows a district-wide modified year round calendar. Hamilton High School offers outstanding curriculum, comprehensive fine arts and athletics programs, and a wide variety of extra curricular activities. State of the art technology enhances students’ learning, presentation, and research capabilities. Students at Hamilton High School are expected to make use of an array of technological tools to enhance their learning. Computer labs are available and allow students to develop their own interactive presentations using sound, video, animation, graphics and texts. In keeping with the school’s philosophy, an integrated curriculum is a primary goal.
THE DISTRICT Chandler Unified School District consists of 29 elementary schools, including four traditional schools, five junior high schools and four high schools. The total student population is over 37,000. The U.S. Department of Education has recognized many of the schools in the district as National Schools of Excellence. The Chandler Unified School District has many partnerships with local companies that provide technology, internship, and teacher training. There are more than 3,900 people employed in the school district. Students are transported by a central bus system.
THE COMMUNITY The city of Chandler is located in the southeastern part of Maricopa County, approximately 20 miles from Phoenix. One of the fastest growing communities in the nation, the population of Chandler in 2004 was over 220,000. The economic base of Chandler is diversified. Chandler has a strong economic base including manufacturing, electronics, financial institutions and biosciences. Major companies such as Intel, Motorola, Wells Fargo Corporate Headquarters Microchip, Orbital Sciences and Charles Schwab maintain facilities in Chandler. The population is young and well educated with 75% of adults having some college education.

STATISTICAL PROFILE
The academic program is organized on a modified block schedule. A full class load is 6 credits. Monday – Wednesday students attend all six classes for 52 minutes in length. Thursday students attend periods 1-3-5 and on Friday attend periods 2-4-6 for 102 minutes in length.
National Merit Program: The class of 2009 had 5 National Merit Finalists, 1 National Achievement scholar and 6 National Hispanic scholars.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT Hamilton High School was recognized by Newsweek magazine as one of the top 1200 high schools in America. It also received the Seiman’s Award for 2006 as the number one Advanced Placement High School in the studies of Math and Science in the state of Arizona. In addition, the last two state AP Scholars graduated from Hamilton High School. Hamilton also had 129 AP Scholars, 6 National AP scholars for 2008. Courses are offered in English Language, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human Geography, U.S. History, U.S. Government and Politics, Microeconomics, French Language, German Language, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Psychology, Music Theory and Studio Art. In 20082009 approximately 1100 students were enrolled in AP courses. Hamilton administered 1100 exams in the before mentioned courses, which is one of the highest number of exams given in a public high school in Arizona.

INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES Hamilton is a 5-A, Division 1 member of the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA). Although Hamilton is only eleven years old it has been the 5A State Champion in Football in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Baseball State Champion in 2003, 2004 and 2008, State Golf Champion in 2005-2008 and Co-Ed Cheer Champions in 2001-2005. Year-round Sports Academies are offered in Football, Soccer, Swimming, Golf, Volleyball, Tennis and Softball. Other Sports offered include Cross-Country, Basketball, Wrestling, Badminton, Baseball and Track. In addition there are Club Ice Hockey, Lacrosse and over 50 clubs and organizations.
