What is COSTEP? • Free action plan that will help guide emergency preparedness for essential records and cultural heritage collections. • Works with existing tools created by EMAs (Emergency Management Agencies) • Offer resources to help you along • Freely adaptable to suit the specific needs of each state or territory.
Who Should Participate? • State (or Territorial) agencies responsible for cultural collections • Local/county/state/regional emergency managers and first responders • Historic Preservation Officers • FEMA representatives • Local libraries, archives, museums, historic homes • Private or academic institutions • Historic sites
COSTEP’s Primary Goals • Build relationships • Educate cultural community and emergency management community about each other’s needs • Incorporate cultural resources into existing state plans • Conduct risk assessment and mitigation activities • Enable better communication between neighboring states
