STATEMENT FROM MAYOR JENNINGS ON THE RETIREMENT OF ALBANY POLICE CHIEF, JAMES TUFFEY Albany, NY – I have respectfully accepted the letter of retirement from Albany Police Chief, James Tuffey. On behalf of the citizens of Albany, I want to thank Chief Tuffey for his many years of service as both a Police Officer and, most recently, as Chief. Under his leadership, overall crime has significantly decreased and many new initiatives have been implemented in the Department. Chief Tuffey’s passion for and commitment to his position have been exemplary. I wish him continued success in the future. Starting today, I will begin a national search for a new Police Chief, one who will continue our commitment to modernization of the force, enhanced community policing, and increased public safety—all for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to our great and diverse Capital City.
