Local Activists Take Part in National Grassroots Action Day YOUR TOWN, STATE – Local members of Campaign for Liberty visited the district offices of Congressman (woman) firstname lastname today to deliver petitions as part of a national grassroots action event. The xxx petitions from constituents in the (xth) district urge Rep. lastname to cosponsor H.R. 1207, legislation authorizing a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve. The efforts coincided with the delivery of over 47,000 petitions to Capitol Hill offices in Washington, DC by dozens of additional Campaign for Liberty volunteers. H.R. 1207, a bipartisan bill introduced by Texas Congressman and former Presidential Candidate Ron Paul, currently has 92 cosponsors in the House of Representatives. The legislation would authorize a one-time audit of the Federal Reserve by the Government Accountability Office and is achieving broad support across the country. The Federal Reserve operates largely in secret and is not required to fully answer questions about the hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars it has helped to disperse under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) or reveal how many trillions of dollars it has created in recent months in efforts to stimulate the economy. “People of all political persuasions, liberal, conservative, progressive or libertarian support H.R. 1207,” said C4L coordinator John Doe. “Campaign for Liberty is committed to sounding the message to Rep/ XXXXX and all of Washington that we need transparency and accountability at the Federal Reserve.” Campaign for Liberty is a grassroots activist organization founded by Congressman Paul to continue and build the momentum and passion his presidential campaign inspired. During the course of the 2008 campaign, The Paul Campaign raised $35 million, won 1.3 million votes in the Republican primaries, was widely recognized for its innovative use of the internet and social media, and inspired tremendous energy across the country, particularly with young people. Campaign for Liberty’s mission is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity. -30-
