God Has Plans For Everyone By Jim Becka Each Friday and Saturday night youth and adults gather in a Humble strip center to sing, dance, and share about what God has done for them. Teresa Petrushansky, a diminutive mother of four often stands and talks about how God has guided her footsteps from a small village in El Salvador to Houston. She and her husband Alex, the grandson of Orthodox Jews, are the founders of Powerhouse International Outreach Ministries.

The families of Alex and Theresa are from different parts of the world. The Petrushansky family left Russia in the 20th century and immigrated to Israel and later came to the United States. Teresa was an unwilling traveler to the United States. At 17, her family sent her to the United States to support the family. “When the Lord has a plan for you, He can change all the circumstances in your life,” said Teresa.
She spent several weeks in the detention center where she met Victor Ojeda, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship of Kingwood and his wife Elvira. “He would come and preach to all the people being held,” said Teresa.
She attend seminary, became a minister and met Alex while preaching at an area church. The changes in Teresa’s life had a profound impact on her family. Her father, an alcoholic, became a Christian, as did her mother and sisters.
