e) SELF ASSESSMENT/REFLECTION (Compulsory)

Describe how your prior learning experiences prepare you to undertake the intended level of study (Not more than 250 words): 1. Why do you want to study? (Min 100 words) I intend to pursue Bachelor in Managament with Honours. I need to improve my qualifications for a better career path. I have gained so much of experience in customer service field since 10 years. I believe that I have gathered enough hands-on experience in the customer service field that will help me to successfully complete this programme. However I need to learn the theories relevant to management and for that reason I’m really interested in enrolling in the programme. I know that nothing can replace the value of practical, hands-on experience in the real working world. But, much like I need that experience to know exactly how a management really operates, theoretical knowledge and experience can be equally valuable. In fact, the most powerful combination includes both practical and theoretical knowledge. By learning current strategies, concepts, ideas and best practices, and getting access to case studies that indicate the best way to make decisions in management, I will be fully equipped with a well-rounded, holistic understanding of management.

2. Describe your experience in relation to the programme of study. (Min 150 words) Firstly, I have started my career as credit recovery officer in a very well-known organization called TGS AND PARTNERS. I have been with the company for two years and gained so much of experience in customer service field. In 2012, I pursued my career as a customer service executive in one of most highly recognized bank known as Hong Leong Bank. My experience in this field simply means that a good customer service often finds out the customers’ needs by listening properly and asking the close attention to what the customer is saying. Hence, the education field of management will definitely be in line with my career experiences in dealing with humans and labour factors which include the structure, design and culture of certain organizations and companies. I believe that the ability to manage people and processes is relevant for most careers. Specific roles include recruitment consultant, human resource, manager, employment relations manager, public policy analyst, employment analyst or business consultant. Apart from that mentioned above, in the same year I have also gained some insights by working as an activation officer for NJOI Winback Project and

DTH Activation and Fullfilment by MEASAT Broadcast Network System. One of the insights would be in terms of being full responsible for acceptance or rejection of customer activation based on his line with laid down regulatory requirements. This of course will be helpful when I further my studies in management because I believe that my work experience is not sufficient to get me ahead through this fast growing world with advanced technologies. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to know everything from my working experience alone. In the world of business and management, theory, development, strategies and insights can far surpass on the job experience. I may have built up plenty of experience in one side of work, only to realize that I am still notably lacking in another side. A course that is designed to give a broad, encompassing overview of all sides of management will allow me to gain the understanding I need to get where I want to go.
