Pleased to meet you. I am Diogo. (watashi wa) diogo desu. I am Brazilian. burajirujin desu. Please be kind to me. douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu. hajimeru=begin, hajimete=first time douzo=please, yoroshiku=kind (very formal), onegai=favour, suru=make  

 

Can you read kana and kanji? はじめまして。 （わたしは）ジョゴです。 ブラジルじんです。 どうぞよろしくおねがいします。 初めまして。 （私は）ジョゴです。 ブラジル人です。 どうぞよろしくお願いします。  

 

Some grammar!!! COPULA です - TOPIC MARKER は - ‘S の specification NO topic WA qualification DESU watashi no namae wa marzia desu わたしのなまえはマルツィアです。 私の名前はマルツィアです。 My name is Marzia. (The name of me is Marzia.) No need to repeat わたしは or あなたは every time! In Japanese you can imply the subject, if it is clear in the context. You can refer to the person you are talking to using his/her name+san.  

 

You could hear even… marzia to moushimasu I am called Marzia. マルツィアともうします。マルツィアと申します。 tomodachi wo shoukai shimasu Let me introduce you a friend. ともだちをしょうかいします。友達を紹介します。 jiko shoukai wo shimasu I will make a self introduction. じこしょうかいをします。自己紹介をし ます。 mousu = to be called, shoukai = introduction jiko shoukai = self introduction

Structure review: examples my car is a toyota 　 watashi no kuruma wa toyota desu 　わ たしのくるまはトヨタです。私の車はトヨタです。 my boyfriend is wonderful 　 watashi no kareshi wa suteki desu 　わたしのかれしはすてきです。私の彼氏はすてきです。 it’s a joke 　 joudan desu 　じょうだんです。冗談です。 My school is troy university 　 watashi no gakkou wa troy university desu 　わたしのがっこうは xxx です。私の学校は xxx です。 The building where I live is small watashi no ie wa chiisai desu 　わたしのいえはちいさいです。私の家は小さいです。 The cat of my friend is amusing watashi no tomodachi no neko wa tanoshii desu 　わたしのともだちのねこはたのしいで す。私の友達の猫は楽しいです。  

 

Another couple of things… ie VS uchi ie is often meant as building, or generic house uchi is often home, or the place of someone we know wa meaning Often using wa means that “that thing” is different from  others… Watashi no koohii wa tsubetai desu わたしのコーヒーはつべたいです My coffee is cold (probably yours is still hot!)
