Platonic Realism By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar Historically, philosophically and politically, there have been two major camps which have attempted to dominate reality, Idealism and Realism. In fact, both are deficient. The true nature of reality is that reality is slightly aunitary at its most unitary and thus reality is characterized by moderate relativism and individual relativism. Idealism, states, wrongly, that all of reality is based upon ideas. The idea, of Idealism, is like the “Inner Game of Tennis,” namely, if you change your ideas, you change your reality. Realism, is the opposite of Idealism. In Realism, the notion is that reality exists independent of any knower and is objective. Realists are essentially, anti-idealist, and tend toward a sort of pessimistic pragmatism. Realists hate Idealist, and Idealists hate Realists. Now, the real nature of reality is a dialectice of Realism and Idealism, known as Platonic Realism, or Critical Thomism. This is the Philosopher’s Stone that the ancients have spoken about. The Philosopher’s Stone gives a person magic, metaphysical, and political power. Put another way, the Nature of Reality is the Dao of Idealism and Realism. Thus, Ideas can change reality through the design of new inventions, for example. The Wright Brothers came up with the idea of an airplane design and the real world change, and reality changed, such that we have jet aircraft and airports all over the world. On the other hand, it is also true that you cannot use linguistic idealist deconstruction, as such, to change physical reality. You cannot “deconstruct” a mountain
of rock by simply wishing it, instead you must use real machinery to do this. While, Jesus of Nazareth, said, in the idealist mode, that prayer or ideas can move mountains, we really haven’t seen this happen in the real world. Now, the real nature of reality is Consciousness or Substance, which is metaphysical. This is Platonic Realism. The Immutable Platonic Forms which structure reality are made from Substance or Pure Consciousness. Thus, it can be said that real concepts of Substance, or Consciousness are an aspect of Natural Law, not just mere, thin, wispy, ideas. Quantum Physics says this too. If you can change Quantum Consciousness or Substance, then you can change physical reality. Mere ideas are not enough. The philosopher Seth, who has channeled the Seth Books, written by Jane Roberts, says that Consciousness, or Substance is the ultimate Nature of Reality, and so did the Ancient Greek Philosopher, Anaximander.
