Since Turkey’s invasion to the north in 1974 effectively separated the Greek and Turkish populations and made a third of the population refugees. The North calls itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and is only recognised by Turkey. The South still claims the whole island as the Republic of Cyprus (ROC). Odata cu invazia Turciei in partea de nord din anul 1974 ,tara a fost efectiv impartita intre greci si turci si o treime din populatie au devenit refugiati. Cei din partea de nord se autodeclara Republica Turca din Nordul Ciprului si este recunoscuta doar de Turcia. Iar cei din de sud continua sa pretinda ca toata insula este a Ciprului. - The Greek Cypriot majority (77% of the population) are mainly Christian, while the Turkish minority in the north are Muslim. Although both groups are free to meet and worship, any evangelism is closely monitored. ( Operation World) Majoritatea grecilor ciprioti (77% din populatie) sunt crestini in timp ce minoritatea turca din nord este musulmana. Desi amandoua grupurile sunt libere sa se intalneasca si sa se inchine, orice evanghelizare este monitorizata indeaproape.

Pray for a peaceful resolution to the 40-year conflict between the northern and southern communities. Sa ne rugam pentru o rezolutie pasnica care sa resolve cei 40 de ani de conflict intre comunitatile din nordul si sudul insulei. ( Operation World)

Because of it’s location, lots of Christian organisation use Cyprus as a base for working in the Middle East, but only a few missionaries are actually involved with working locally. Datorita

localizarii sale, multe organizatii crestine foloseste Ciprul ca baza de lucru pentru Orientul Mijlociu, si doar cativa misionari sunt implicati sa lucreze pe plan local.Sa ne rugam pentru ca Dumnezeu sa cheme mai multi misionari sa lucreze in Cipru. ( Operation World)

There is a small group of about 20 new Christians in the Muslim north. Pray that this group will be able to witness to their friends and families and grow! Exista deja un grup mic de 20 noi crestini in zona musulmana din nord. Sa ne rugam ca cei din acest grup sa aiba posibilitatea sa marturiseasca prietenilor si familiilor lor despre credinta lor si ca numarul lor sa creasca. ( Operation World)
