PL report for exco meeting on 19.9.06 1. A round table discussion of democrats will be held today from 3 to 5.30 to discuss CE election and the way forward for universal suffrage. The agenda and the names of the persons attending as well as the need for confidentiality have been forwarded to all of you. The following exco members have indicated that they will attend: Ronny, Albert, Margaret, Gladys, Mandy, Joseph and myself. 2. The CE policy address is scheduled for 11 Oct. The legislators are expected to give their comments on the same day. Does exco intend to leave this to the legislators or will exco want to issue a press release or hold a press conference or what. I have asked the legco assistants to look at the previous policy address by Donald Tsang and give a report card as to what has been done and what has not been done. Your comments along these lines and on the policy address will be welcome. 3. positive non interventionism- you are no doubt aware of the English and Chinese reply that CE has given in response to our letter and of the different media treatment of this issue. Please consider way forward. Quite a lot of reporters have asked us if the civic party decides to follow up with further queries. I have said that it is a matter on governance as well as economic policy and it should be a matter for all and not just the civic party. But I have also said that we will follow up. 4. The main business of legco will soon resume and I enclose herewith a list of panels and committees each of the 6 legislators have signed up for. The tentative names for the spokesman have also been included. So far none of us have signed up for the manpower panel but this is important as it concerns minimum wage and we must have at least one representative on this panel. Your views are welcome. Audrey Eu
