Austria, Gerome Rafael D. 11 HUMSS 1 We all live in a world wherein coordinates exists, we use maps as guides and as for knowing where we are. A map is guided and directed by a so called "grid". A grid is simply a network of lines that crosses each other to form parallel figures. So basically, it divides every possible space and with that space lies another grid that also contains a grid in itself and another to say the least. There are an infinite number of grids that get smaller and smaller until it is up to the size which we cannot further decipher. The concept of a grid in maps is both true and also on the verge of truth, it is true because it serves as a guiding principle in which navigators use coordinates for location and it is also on the verge of truth because just like time it serves as a representation of what is just the product of the mind through thorough investigation; although, in its very sense it can't be perceived by the senses. What I think, we are part of this grid that is subdivided into fragments of reality, until we are not aware that literally all things are included in this neverending grid. This thinking of mine is what I like to call the grid process. What inspired me of this are the mere blinds in the classroom. Look at it, closely; doesn't it resemble thousands of parallel figures? Every single being has its role whether to itself, to others, to the community and to the whole entity of mankind. The grid process starts from every being, whether it may be living or nonliving. Every single thing we do always has an impact to the society, though being known in structural functionalism that the society can work as a well-oiled machine where everyone promotes solidarity and stability. The difference of the grid process with functionalism is that it doesn't just start within one member of the society rather it starts from anything whether it may be a person or an object. Being included in the grid means that every action we make is what makes up the grid we are included in and then another grid after that until it gets bigger and bigger through induction. There is no limit for the size of the grid; it may extend at points where we can't tell if it’s really a grid anymore. Though seeing its sublime quality, we are also part of the susceptibility the grid brings to us. Social media, politics, norms and many others have its influence on all entity belonging to the grid. We can’t say that we will not let media and or any of those outlets get to our skin because it does, though we try to restrain, still we are easily influenced by this. What we should do is just let the body and soul take its place in the grid and not let it be partitioned by the different outlets of life. Let us not let media partition us all, restrain is the word we can live by. Restrain is the word the keeps us away from temptation. Restrain from the susceptibility of media and all its forms. Restrain the cruelty in politics. Restrain the conformity of norms. While restraining, you should do your part to the grid. See the goodness, be the goodness and especially, do the goodness. This will help us because all of us occupy the grid and we ourselves are the grid. weary
