Phạm Gia Khiêm 9.11 ---------"Is music important?" There is no doubt that music has changed people's life ever since it was discovered. So, how important is music? First, music is helpful and relaxing. When you get home from a boring day at school or at work, with tons of exercise, deadlines and tests, you lay on your bed and listen to your favorite songs. By doing that, you release stress and when you sing along, you feel free to be yourself and you will not worried about those things that have stuck in your head for a whole day anymore. All of that being done, with just music. Second, music brings people together. Usually, best friends and boyfriends and girlfriends are people who have the same favorite music genre. They can share songs together, go to a music concert or festival with each other and sometimes, write some music together. Last, music has the power of connecting. Thanh Luke - a singer and songwriter in the Vietnamese indie music community (a type of music that does not follow any trends, used to express the singers' feelings and thoughts) once said in TEDtalk that he usually write songs in his head with catchy beats and sing them right on the stage, he does that to attract people's attention because they are paying too much attention to their phones. He often plays the instruments very loud and he also did a small experiment in TEDtalk: he wrote one sentence and sang it repeatedly first alone, then with the piano and then with the whole audience, it changes the way he sings and the way the audience enjoys his "song". We can barely see the different, that is the power of music. Imagine a world without music, catchy rhythms and rhymes. It would be very boring, people can't dance to the songs, can't sing along and perhaps can't be themselves.
In conclusion, music is the medicine to depression, sadness and isolation. It is also the connection between people.
