William Murdoch was First Officer of the R.M.S Titanic (right insert) The character, William Murdoch, as portrayed in the top-grossing movie, Titanic, by James Cameron.
What ever happened to William Mudoch? William McAster Murdoch was a Scottish first officer, who had ordered “hard-to-starboard!” at the collision. After several first-class people make bribes to him to get into lifeboats, he had had enough. He eventually threw up his arms from the stress, and screamed “Your money can’t save you anymore then it can save me!” A few minutes later, it is believed that he shot two rushing passengers, one who was supposedly a six year-old Italian boy. He then proceeded to back up to the edge of the ship, and launch a revolver bullet into his head. His body was never recovered, and his suicide isn’t fact, although many of the survivors claimed that it was.
