1. ÉN ÉS A CSALÁDOM

1A: CSALÁD

Beszéljen a rokonairól. Milyen gyakran és milyen alkalmakkor találkoznak? (Tell us about your relatives./Introduce your family. How often do you meet and what do you do together?) I come from a relatively big average family. My close family consists of about six members: my younger brother and his wife and their 2-year-old son, my father and mother and my grandmother, and of course there are my in-laws: my wife and her parents and her younger sister and her nephew. In my extended family there are eight cousins and two uncles. I keep in touch with most of my relatives as we get together every weekend for a big family gathering. Usually we have lunch together and talk about recent happenings. It is nice to catch up on each other's news. For example last week I learnt that one of my cousins is going to move to a new city because it is closer to her workplace. father: IS - 55 years old - an engineer - of medium/average height and build - easy-going, youthful, modern-minded (What I like about him is that he is...) HAS - green eyes - brown hair - an oval face - a beard mother: IS - 55 years old - a production manager at an international firm/company - easy-going, youthful, family-oriented - extremely pretty HAS - blonde hair - blue eyes - a beautiful face wife: IS - 35 years old - an economist at MOL Danube Oil Refinery - as tall as me - curious, likes to travel, loves nature HAS - blonde hair - blue eyes - a feminine figure

Milyen előnyei és hátrányai vannak több generáció együttélésének? (What are the advantages and disadvantages of different generations living together?) Generations living together has several advantages and disadvantages. One of its advantages is that from a financial aspect you can save some money if you live with your parents because you don't have to pay rent. What's more, you can share the housework so you are only responsible for cleaning your own room. Also, you don't have to worry about cooking for yourself every day, since probably your mother does it. However, of course there can be disadvantages too. For example you might not have privacy because you are rarely alone. You have to take other people's lifestyle into account, so you can't do things that you could if you lived alone.

1B: CSALÁDI ÜNNEPEK, HAGYOMÁNYOK

Melyik a legkedvesebb ünnepe és miért? (What is your favourite holiday and why?) My favourite celebrations are birthdays. I always look forward to them since they involve cakes, surprise parties and presents. There is nothing more beautiful than a child's joy when he or she gets his or her birthday gifts. For example my nephew got his first cake when he was 2 years old and he was very happy about it. It was a car-shaped chocolate cake and he thought that it was a toy and he tried to play with it. In the end, everything was covered in chocolate. As for my birthday, it is not as important to me as my friends'. I usually get a cake and a small gift from my relatives.

Milyen egy átlagos vasárnap az Ön családjában? (What is an average Sunday like in your family?) In my family weekends are very different from weekdays. On Sundays we get up later than normally. We continue our day with cooking lunch together. When it is ready we sit around the dining table and we chat while we eat. When we have finished the women in my family clear the table and wash the dishes. Meanwhile us men go to the living room to watch TV and discuss the last football match. I enjoy these moments that we spend together because they are relaxing and it is nice to catch up on each other's news. In the evening, we say goodbye and everybody goes home.
