PROFESSIONAL HISTORY Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Wheaton, IL 2/2008 – 11/2008 Director of Fund Raising and Development • Hired as first full-time professional fund-raiser. Established giving policies, wrote a strategic plan and case for giving. • Created a pledge envelope that is distributed in all District publications to build the annual fund. • Secured major gifts from Peabody Energy ($25,000), ComEd ($10,000), an individual donor ($10,000) and Comcast ($6,900) in the first six months. Barrington Area United Way, Barrington, IL 1991-1998 Executive Director • Hired as first Executive Director, responsible for all fund raising, agency allocations and volunteer recruitment/management. • Managed an annual budget of $360,000 and restructured allocation process to fund programs rather than agencies • Conducted a community wide needs assessment with Good Shepherd Hospital and mobilized community leaders to address the needs • Formed and incorporated the Barrington Area Senior Coalition in 1995 while serving as the Treasurer in response to the needs assessment • Developed a successful 5k Walk/Run to raise monies and increase community awareness United Way of Rock River Valley, Rockford, IL Campaign and Allocation Associate • Trained and managed 62 volunteers and two support staff in annual fund raising and agency allocations • Responsible for the direct mail campaign, increasing revenue by 46% in one year • Responsible for the Rockford Public Schools campaign, increasing revenue by 100% over two years

VOLUNTEER GRANT WRITING Youth Technology Corps (www.ytcorps.org), Chicago, IL • Research grant opportunities and develop proposals for an after school program that provides technology training and mentoring to youth at-risk within Chicago’s inner-city neighborhoods.  Submitted 2009 on-line grant applications to After School Matters and the City of Chicago Community Development program. Chicago Public Schools, Chicago, IL • Research grant opportunities and develop proposals for the Sports Administration Department to bring in additional revenue that will renovate facilities, purchase equipment and develop student athletes.  Successfully secured a $200,000 grant from the NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program, a partnership between the NFL Youth Football Fund and Local Initiatives Support Corporation, to resurface Lane Stadium with FieldTurf® in 2007.
