Welcome BACK Welcome back to the 4th and final term for 2009. It’s hard to believe that ¾ of the year has passed already! We’ve got lots of exciting things planned, and I’m sure it will be a busy term as we head towards Christmas. A big welcome to Jin and his family, joining us this term. Hopefully we’ll see some fabulous weather this term … so don’t forget to send along named sunhats, as our “No hat, No Play” policy comes in to force this term. If your child doesn’t have/wear their sunhat at Morning Tea and Lunch times, they will have to play under the pergola, rather than the field, junior playground, or other play areas. Sunhat hooks are out in the corridor so your child can leave their hat at school rather than taking it home each night. The children are also encouraged to wear sunscreen whenever they are outside, so you may like to give them their own personal sunscreen to reapply at lunchtime. Homework: Just a reminder that homework comes home daily (poems and readers) to be completed and signed each evening. A Library book is issued on a Friday, and needs to be returned before issuing another the following Friday. Also a homework activity sheet and handwriting task come home on a Monday. These are to be completed, and returned to school before the following Monday, so they can be marked before the next week’s homework is sent. Homework is a revision of work taught at school, so should therefore be relatively easy. Often the sheet contains ‘extras’ for those children wanting to do a bit more, so please spend only as much time as you feel is appropriate, and leave the rest. Making a comment in the comments section is appreciated, and helpful for me when creating subsequent homework sheets.

Parent Help is always most appreciated, and our Term 3 roster will roll over and resume for Term 4 in Week 2 (Monday 19th October). Please let me know if you are unable to assist any more, or haven’t helped before but are interested this term.

Please ensure that everything that comes to school is named – especially school uniform items! As the weather gets warmer there are always a lot of jumpers / shoes etc. removed so there is often a lot of ‘lost property’!

It would be really helpful and save a lot of time (especially as the time for swimming draws near) if children are able to take off and put on their own shoes and clothing. If they haven’t mastered the ‘knack’ of shoelace tying or buckling yet, it may be worth thinking about sending them to school in shoes they can take off / put on, and save those “tricky” shoes for weekends! Practicing putting on/taking off their fleece would also be very helpful.

This term’s Activity Fees are now due, and the Activity Fee letter is attached. Please pay this to the School Office as soon as possible. As part of the Activity fee there is a charge for a new glue stick and whiteboard marker for classroom use that I will be collecting and looking after.
