Parent Letter For Basic Multiplication Facts

Parents + Student + Teacher = Student Success! Dear Parents, Math class has begun! Your child participated in an activity called “Mad Minute,” actually they had three minutes, where they had to attempt to complete 50 multiplication problems in that time. The grade that is on the paper will not be averaged into their report card grade, but simply used a snapshot to see how your child is doing at this moment. The fifth grade math curriculum is rigorous and if your child has their basic multiplication facts mastered it will make future concepts less challenging. To that end, we will have another scheduled “Mad Minute” exercise on Wednesday, September 24 and this grade will be averaged into their report card grade. If you get a chance, stop by our class website where there are online resources for you and your child. I will send home another letter explaining the details on how to access this website.
