What do you guys did in the last year-end holiday? On the first and second week of the school holiday, I went on a road trip to the northern Thailand with my family. We spend about sixty hours on road and covered 5000km in this trip. The trip is quite tough but enjoying!

Could you talk about some of the interesting places you had visited? Hmm, the first place I would recommend you guys to visit is Sukhothai. Sukhothai is the capital of the first kingdom of Thailand, which is about 800 years ago. It is known as the ancient city with the most well-maintained buddha statues and buildings. By preventing the city from getting destroyed by the hustle and bustle of the city, people are not allowed to drive their vehicles into the city except cycling. Cycling is the only way to get you from one place to another because the city is quite big and it would cost you a whole day if you walk. There are information boards in the area providing information about the ancient city. I enjoyed studying their history about the kings and the temples very much!

Wow, it looks quite interesting!

Besides that, I visited the highest mountain in Thailand called Doi Inthanon. We went there to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunrise. The most excited thing is the temperature up there is only 6 degree Celsius! I never thought that Thailand can be freezing cold until we have to wear our winter clothing instead of jackets on the mountain! The view of scenery on the mountain is breathtaking and makes me feel like standing on the clouds because the clouds are below us! Before leaving the mountain, we took pictures with the signboard which indicates the highest point in Thailand.

Just now, I have mentioned that I visited the highest point in Thailand. Other than that, I also visited the most northern point in Thailand, which is known as the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle is located in Chiang Rai and it is the intersection point of 3 countries which is Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. I could just see Myanmar and Laos because they are just across a river. The Golden Triangle is also famous with opium production. Opium is a kind of drug which is illegal in Malaysia. It is used for medical purposes but over consuming opium could make someone addicted to it and dangers their health. I visited the Hall of Opium, which introduces the history of opium. It is a quite knowledgeable visit as I get to know the pros and cons of consuming opium and act as a reminder for me not to take any drugs even though opium may act as a stress reliever.
