Ms. Meyer’s Classroom Newsletter KY Kid’s Week

Fall Parties

The kids had a great time during Kentucky Kid’s Week! They enjoyed a day with no homework, crazy hat day, parents carrying their lunch trays and serving a freezer pop. Thank you PTA!

As you know – from store shelves stocked full everywhere you look - Halloween is right around the corner. Our PTA will be sending out information and asking for volunteers to plan the fall parties. It will be from 2-3:30pm on Friday the 30th. Students will need to bring their costumes to school and change during the party. We hope to have all students in costume this year! So keep your eyes peeled for more info.

Louisville Water Company Our first field trip was to the Louisville Water Company. It was very educational and a lot of fun too! We saw the pumping station where they pull water from the Ohio River and discussed water filtration systems. The students executed an experiment and then we traveled to the water reservoir. After a relaxing lunch in the park we walked the ¾ mile loop around the water.

Book-It Eisenhower participates in a monthly rewards program for reading called Book-It. In our class, students are rewarded with a free Pizza Hut coupon (personal pan pizza) each month for reading at least 5 books each week for homework. So keep reading and whet that appetite!

Scholastic Book Orders Be on the look out for Scholastic book order forms. I usually send home two months at a time. It’s a wonderful way to build your child’s home library!
