It’s all Ancient to me!! We will discover Mesopotamia, Sumer, and Ancient Egypt. We will find out how these civilizations rose to power and thrived in their part of the world. Students will experience history as it happened.
Math
The Write Stuff In Language Arts class we are working on persuasive writing, how to write effective topic sentences, and how to write effective concluding sentences. Students are writing cohesive paragraphs, highlighting their topic and concluding sentences within their paragraphs.

Metric Mania What three countries do not use the metric system? What famous King helps you convert within the metric system? We will be measuring length, volume, mass, and temperature using the metric system. Also, we will learn how to use laboratory tools.

Investigating Integers We’ll be comparing, ordering, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing negative and positive numbers. We’ll apply the distributive property to simplifying expressions and also solve equations.

Self-Discovery By interviewing friends and/or family, we will expand our knowledge of ourselves and the world around us. This will parallel the main character’s journey in Holes and Taking Sides.
