Introduction

Go through attendance and let them know what we are working on today.

Body

~5 mins Warm Up - Have students play cat and mouse (hot dog tag?) to warm up - Dynamic stretching after (high knees, butt kicks, soldiers, daisy pickers, lunges) ~5 mins Serving - Bring them in and have them watch proper serving form (opposite foot from hand, don’t throw the balls, have a fist or open hand- hit the ball on the bottom of the wrist where the hand start) SHOW them where to hit it. NO overhand serving until the they can do underhand! And I need to see the underhand serve. - Get into partners on either side of the net – start at the attack line and gradually make their way back to the base line (say make 3 serves to your partner and then take a step back) Things to look for: correct footing, not tossing the ball, hitting the ball straight (arm points to their target straight follow through). ~10 mins passing on from their knees (platform position) - In partners students will toss and pass to one another - Tosser is always at the net so passer is passing towards the net - Passers will be on their knees – do not swing arms- just let the ball hit their arms for the first time x10 then switch - Second time through slight movement of the arms ~15 mins Passing- Bring them in and go over the passing position (knees bent, weight is on the balls of the feet, hands should be out, thumbs together and point towards the floor!) - Have them stand up and show their passing form and platform position - Get the into partners (they will be passing towards the net always! Partner with the ball ‘tosser’ is going to have their back towards the net -1 big step away from the net) - Passer is going to be in the middle of the court - Tosser tosses 10 balls to the passer and then they will switch x 2 - Once they’re gone through twice they can try and rally just passing!

~5 mins Passing competition - Demonstrate how to pass to themselves (Ball Control!) - If you drop the ball on the ground- you’re out - Person who is the last person standing is the winner
