Mrs. Burl’s - First Grade News October 26th-30th, 2009 This week we’ll read Sid Scores and Land of Ice. Please read with and listen to your child read each day. NOTE: Please make sure that your child is studying the sight word flash cards with you or another adult.

Reading Homework for the Week Monday – read Sid Scores pgs. 170- 177, do Day 1 on the Homework

Paper, and study sight words (there are 16 new cards). Tuesday – read Land of Ice pgs.182 -203, study Words to Know pg. 180. do Day 2 homework and review sight words. Wednesday – read Sid Scores and Land of Ice. Also, do Day 3 homework, and study the sight words. Thursday – read Land of Ice pgs.182- 203, read about the author, illustrator, and My Father’s Feet on pg.205 , do Day 4 homework and spelling words Triangle Worksheet.

Math Homework We will continue working with subtraction…Remember that subtraction means taking things away or comparing two groups. Remember to help your child practice counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Tuesday – complete math worksheet Thursday – complete math worksheet

Science -We are beginning the unit on Air and Weather. If your child has not paid his/ her party money . Please send it as soon as possible we are getting ready for the party and trying to buy party favors.
