BOS to LAX, departed BOS at 1214Z. 123 8Z ZNY R42 initiates a track as AALl 1A on primary target over Kingston VOR as a result of a point-out from ZBW. 124OZ UAL 175 checks in on ZNY R42 level at FL310 from ZBW. Track passes over AALl 1A track. 1241Z ZNY R42 asks USA583 if he saw AALl 1. A/C responds that he saw something on his TCAS. 1241:3 1Z UALl75 states that he heard a suspicious transmission on departure frequency like some trouble onboard another aircraft. 1244Z
USA583 states receiving an ELT,
1247:25Z Radar contact is lost on AALl 1 over NYC. A/C appears to fly down Hudson River then turns left direct WTC. 1249Z
UALl 75 switches to beacon code. 3321.

UALl 75 climbs to FL335 and starts a left rum toward NYC.

UALl 75 starts descent and continues left turn.

UAL175, FL284 crosses path of DAL23J5. FL280, within 2-3 miles near
UALl 75 is over EWR at 10,000 feet. A/C starts descent at 1,1 OO to 1,400 1301Z feet every 1 2 seconds. 1303:03Z
Radar contact lost with UAL175 at 2,200 feet.
