1. As per your request, the undersigned has conducted an investigation regarding three (3) requests for records received by this unit regarding the World Trade Center incident, September 11, 2001. The results of this investigation are as follows: 2. A perusal of command database records indicated that three (3) requests for tape reproduction listed in the Tape Management System did not have corresponding written requests attached to file. In regards to request # 32494, it should be noted that Deputy Inspector McCarthy, Commanding Officer, 13 Precinct made three (3) requests for radio reproductions in which two (2) were for Zone 3 (32494 and 32658). Request # 32494 is a duplicate request carried under # 32658, and therefore did not require an additional receipt from this command. 3. Request # 32495 was made by Ari Wax, Deputy Commissioner, Technological Development. It is standard policy that incidents of a serious and/or newsworthy nature be reproduced for the Deputy Commissioner's review. The Communications Division's Tape and Records Unit, falls within the auspices of the Deputy Commissioner, Technological Development, and requests made by the Office is considered intra-command. They are hand delivered by a member of the Tape and Records Unit, and do not require a receipt.

4. Request # 33122 was received from Principal Police Communications Technician William Carter, Communications Section's Disciplinary Unit. One of the Disciplinary Unit's functions is to conduct quality insurance investigations and reviews of specific incidents for their operational integrity, as directed by the Commanding Officer, Communications Section. Request # 33122 falls within that category. The Disciplinary Unit's requests are also intra-command and do not require a receipt. 5. For your information.
