My uncle lives in Canad a. How s o?
Year 1935 This is the year my grand grandmother had become her first child, whom she named Erih. Why so?
Year 1945 Is when my grand grandmother, had been left alone with her ten-year old son Erih and one-year old daughter Josephine. Her husband had been taken away, and has never come back.
Year 1955 Is when Erih finished his engineering studies and decided to search for better living conditions. He had moved to Graz, where he made friends with many Austrian engineers who were thinking about moving to Canada.
This was his first migration, to Austria. He calls it economical emigration. But I think it was not just that … However, he’d find many friends there, earned some money, finished his studies and made his way to Canada with two of his best friends in the year 1958.
Year 1958 In that time he’d arrived in Canada, London, Ontario. He got a job very soon, even though his English was not perfect. He became a very respected engineer really fast. He worked for a company called Northern Telecom. Met some friends who were from Germany.
In those years Canada had lots of capital, lots of job offerings, the people were very open for newcomers, and very good payments. This is why Erih at the age of twenty-one earned enough money for his living. He also supplied his mother and sister with some extras for a better living.
Year 1968 In order to get as much money in the shortest possible time, he grounded a business with one of his German friends. So he worked from 7 till 3 p.m. at Northern Telecom and from afternoon till late at night in his own firm.
Year 1975 He met Sharon, and married her two years later. They have two daughters: Susan and Michelle.
Year 1980 The plant of Eric’s company Northern Telecom in London had went bankrupt, so the management decided to close it and to keep only the second plant, which appeared to be in Calgary.
This is how he had to leave London and his friends. He had sold his house in London, moved to Calgary with Sharon and the children, where he bought a new house. Sharon got a job there quickly, too. Susan and Michelle had some adaptation problems which they had somehow overcome in the pass of time.
Year 2005 Eric retires. Susan moves to Pemberton, a small town in British Columbia. Michelle finishes her science studies. Sharon still has some years till retirement.
