Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory for ever! Slava Isusu Christu! Slava i vo viki!

A word from the Fathers …

• Thank you to all who brought meal to share last Sunday, on the feast of St. Philip the Apostle. Thank you for your effort and time spend preparing the meal and making our parish feast beautiful. I very much enjoyed our parish family and I pray the graces received through the intercession of Holy Apostle Philip bring about abundant fruit in our lives. • Thank you to Tom Whalen for buying a new vacuum cleaner for our church. • Please remember in your prayers the sick and suffering members of our parish. I would like to put their names in our weekly bulletin (please let me know), for those who receive the bulletin via mail, so that they can also serve to others with their prayers and sacrifices.

St. John Climacus

Liturgical schedule

Repentance is the renewal of baptism. Repentance is a contract with God for a second life. A penitent is a buyer of humility. Repentance is constant distrust of bodily comfort. Repentance is self-condemning reflection, and carefree self-care. Repentance is the daughter of hope and the renunciation of despair. A penitent is an undisgraced convict. Repentance is reconciliation with the Lord by the practice of good deeds contrary to the sins. Repentance is purification of conscience. Repentance is the voluntary endurance of all afflictions. A penitent is the inflicter of his own punishments. Repentance is a mighty persecution of the stomach, and a striking of the soul into vigorous awareness.

A prayer for our children (from the propers for the Entrance of the Theotokos in the Temple): O child, go to be an offering and fragrant incense for the One who sent you to me. Enter into the veiled places and learn the mysteries of God. Prepare yourself to be a delightful dwelling place for Jesus who will give great mercy to the world.

Pure Fashion helps girls to recognize their true beauty – that they are a model of the Great Designer - wonderfully created in God's image. For more information on the program, visit www.purefashion.com or e-mail: [email protected] or call Daphney Hewitt at 916-439-2795, 916-439-2795. • Catholic Charities of Sacramento invites you to Adopt-a-Family for Christmas 2009. Many families in our communities struggle financially, especially at Christmas time. Each year, we coordinate the Adopt-a-Family program at Christmas time to help out families in need. You can help one of these families out by “adopting” them for Christmas. Donors provide gifts of toys, food and clothing for families who would otherwise receive very little or nothing at all, such as individually wrapped gifts (toys or clothing) for each family member, with each gift marked with the name of the recipient, a grocery store gift card or non-perishable food items. After you sign up to adopt-a-family, we send out information and suggestions for gifts. We'll also tell you when and where to drop off your gifts for your family. For more information and how to sign up, visit: http://www.diocese-sacramento.org/social_service_ministry/Adopt-A-Family.html
