1Kwashee FIRST PARAGRAPH Powerful As stated before one of the three characteristic that reflects the characteristic of an American soul is powerful. In the Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God, Gods wrath is the most powerful. To Jonanthan Edwards God should be feared for what he can do, just the smallest thing you do wrong you should be feared of your punishment just because of how powerful he is. “His anger is as great toward them as to those that are actually suffering the executions of the fierceness of His wrath in hell P.46". This text reflects the characteristic powerful just by him becoming angry you would feel like you are already suffering in the fiery pits of hell. Also, Gods wrath is so powerful you would not want to sin over and over because it all builds up. For example, “the wrath of God is like great waters that are dammed for the present; they increase more and more,....till an outlet is given.” P.47. This quote shows that you would not want to make God angry because he holds his power back until you sin so bad that you are the one he releases all his rage on. Lastly, God could unleash so much power just by not holding back.”If God should only withdraw His hand from the floodgate, it would immediately fly open, and the fiery floods of the fierceness and wrath of God would rush forth with inconceivable fury, and would come upon you with omnipotent power” P.47 SECOND PARAGRAPH Relentless Another characteristic that reflects the characteristic of an American soul is relentless. In Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God they do not care how they are punished, they give details about how bad it will be. ”It would be dreadful to suffer this fierceness and wrath of Almighty God one moment; but you must suffer it to all eternity. There will be no end to this exquisite horrible misery. P.49" This text reflects relentless because they tell how there should be no mercy on you and how there will not be an end to your misery. Also, there is no way out once you are in the fiery pits of hell, you can not try to talk your way out. “The devil is waiting for them, hell is gaping for them, the flames gather and flash about them, . and would fain lay hold on them....... And they have no interest in any Mediator, there are no means within reach that can be any security to them P.46" They do not have no means of letting you go once you reach hell, they are just waiting for sinners. Lastly, you will suffer in hell for eternity and
