In the Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God, Edward was being so dramatic and over exaggerating about God. Tell how God should be feared for what he can do, just the smallest thing you do wrong you should be feared of your punishment just because of how powerful he is. “His anger is as great toward them as to those that are actually suffering the executions of the fierceness of His wrath in hell.” (Edwards 46) This text proves how Edward was kind of pushing the truth about what happens to you if you sin. Also, He explains how God is so powerful you would not want to sin over and over because it all builds up. For example, “the wrath of God is like great waters that are dammed for the present; they increase more and more,....till an outlet is given.” (Edwards 47). Again Edward tells about God and how his anger builds up and will release on something. Lastly, Edward gives an example of how powerful God is and why you should fear him.”If God should only withdraw His hand from the floodgate, it would immediately fly open, and the fiery floods of the fierceness and wrath of God would rush forth with inconceivable fury, and would come upon you with omnipotent power.”(Edwards 47) This text would proves that Edward pushing the truth a little to far about what would happen if God would not hold back.
