Artsy news from the Beattie Chicks

Wednesday is Crafting with the Chicks Night!

Ladies, this is the chance you‟ve been waiting for...to get out and make art! You do NOT have to be an artist...you don‟t even have to be creative! We‟ll do that part for you! Just come, relax and have fun! Craft nights include all materials and are $20. Space is limited. Please be respectful of your spot and give us 24 hours notice if you cannot attend.

Who are the Beattie Chicks? We are two pretty crafty chicks who just happen to be sisters by marriage. We have been creating art together for many years and have had fun finding new ways to use old stuff as well as old ways to use new stuff! We have a love of the ocean and all of its treasures. We are passionate about color and good design. We get giddy over fun fabric. We spend hours pouring over craft magazines and art blogs. We put it all together and make (what we call) art! Hannah Beattie is a crafty Momma of four daughters and wife to an amazing man. She values time with her family, in her studio and by the sea. She is a social worker turned crafts person. She enjoys trying new things and experimenting with all things art. She is passionate about living a creative life and giving others the tools to find their artsy selves. Leslie Beattie has been playing with art since she was a child. As with most of us, her creativity got stifled somewhere along the way. It made its way out in college when she pursued a degree in Marketing and Graphic Design. Her “grown-up” jobs included working in advertising agencies doing design and account management. Now that she‟s able to be a kid again, she has a blast making messes in her studio. She is excited to help women in her community rekindle the creative spark that lives in us all. We finally put all of our great ideas into action and are happy to be offering art classes in the greater Brunswick region. If you like what you see, let us know. Craft with the Chicks on Friday Mornings!

If you‟re looking for an inspiring way to spend a morning during the week, come join us! We will spend time helping you tap into your creative self. No previous art experience required. We meet the 2nd Friday of each month from 9:30am-12pm. Each class is $15. November 13

Girl Time Winter Art Camp!

Girl Time has been a huge success for the past two summers: 8 to 12 year old girls come together to make art and have fun. We are pleased to offer 3 and 4 weeks sessions throughout this winter. We‟ve heard from a lot of younger girls that they want to do art too! Here‟s your chance! One Saturday per month Beattie Chicks will bring you 2 hours of fun-filled art. Mom and Dad can clean the garage and you come to our place and get crafty! All classes are from 9am to 11am. Saturday January 16

Host a Girls Night Out...and Invite Us!

Beattie Chicks is owned and operated by Hannah and Leslie Beattie. We are committed to providing art in a fun, no-stress environment to girls and women of all ages.

You provide the space, we‟ll provide the party! Gather a group of friends and we‟ll bring the art to you! You can choose from a variety of projects we have in our stash. We‟ll come for 3 hours and provide all materials and instruction and you and your guests will have a blast and walk away with a unique piece of art. If that‟s not enough, check this out: As the hostess, if you have 5 or more guests at your party, your portion is free!

Our goal is to help girls become empowered and confident in their creative voice and to help women find their creative self.

So gather up the girls and let‟s party! Price per party based on project selected and distance. Please contact us for details.

They will have fun, giggle a lot and leave with a personalized party favor! No more stuffing baggies with candy and pencils...all you have to do is provide the cake! Art Retreat Weekend April 16, 17 & 18, 2010

Kennedy Learning Center at Kieve, Nobleboro, Maine Have you been looking for a place to get away and let your creativity soar? If so, this weekend is exactly what you need! Join us this spring for our first ever Beattie Chicks Retreat Weekend! For only $250, you get delicious meals, comfortable lodging and project instruction all weekend long! We have reserved the Kennedy Learning Center at Kieve in Nobleboro. If you have never been, it‟s an amazing, tranquil and inspirational place. You can wear your jammies all day, jump in the hot tub whenever you choose and have all of our supplies at your fingertips. What could be better? Reserve your spot fast...this won‟t last long! $75 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration, balance due on 3/16/2010. We will be exploring the world of collage and other mixed media techniques. No previous art experience required. The only thing we ask is that you come with an open mind and a desire for fun. More information and a materials list will be provided once we receive your registration.
