Presidency Message by Vanessa Kay, President
My Dear Sisters, I hope you know that I do not use the word sister without understanding its true meaning. I have thought of you often my sister. I was wondering when was the last time you really felt that Heavenly Father loves you? When did you last feel the reassurance from the Holy Ghost that you are an actual daughter, a princess of our Heavenly King? When did you last contemplate the innumerable blessings He has in store for you? (D&C 25:2,9,10,13,15) “[Be] faithful and walk in the paths of virtue before me… Thou needest not fear…Thou shalt lay aside the things of this world, and seek for the things of a better… Lift up thy heart and rejoice…And a crown of righteousness thou shalt receive” No matter where we are spiritually we all need to be reminded of our divine nature, our relationship as a daughter of our Heavenly Father. For me personally I have felt my burdens lightened and my problems smaller during those times when I have been more aware of His love for me. No sister, my problems did not go away but my perspective changed and my heart softened. Remember back to the last time you felt that burning reminder of how much your Father loves you. Where were you? What were you doing? Were you praying, listening to a song, reading, with a friend or family member, taking the sacrament or attending the temple? Now what can you do to create the opportunity for the Spirit to testify to you again? The Spirit testifies of truth. The truth my sister is that you are loved. He wants you to remember – Satan wants you to forget. I love you sister. I want you to be happy. I don’t know of a quicker way to happiness than the sweet assurance that “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us and we love Him!” I testify that these things are true Your Sister, Vanessa
September Enrichment Update This month the Enrichment Committee focus is on canning. Those that know how to can and those that want to can have been paired up. It is up to these sisters to contact each other to setup their canning schedule. If you are interested in learning to can or have a skill that can be shared, please contact Donnell Bunting or Jenny Chamberlain. Visiting Teaching Interviews, Sunday, September 20, 6-8pm @ the church What are Visiting Teaching Interviews? They are 5-10 min interviews with a member of the RS Presidency. We are interested in knowing how your sisters are doing, how your companionship is working out, are schedules matching up, etc. It’s also helpful to hear “I love my VTing route!” Sign up lists are coming around. Please sign up for a time that is convenient for you.
September Visiting Teaching Message Understand and Live the Gospel of Christ How Can I Better Understand and Live the Gospel? Barbara Thompson, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency: “Sisters, now more than ever, we need women to step up and be strong. We need women who declare the truth with strength, faith, and boldness. We need women to set an example of righteousness. We need women to be ‘anxiously engaged in a good cause.’ We need to live so that our lives bear witness that we love our Heavenly Father and the Savior Jesus Christ and that we will do what They have asked us to do” (“Now Let Us Rejoice,” Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2008, 116). Thank you to each of you that made an extra effort to do your visiting teaching in August. We saw many sisters out and about that last week of the month with their lesson in hand.
